So far so good. Not a hint of any wear and tear on my cruise. Been using the phone and SMS functions a lot yesterday. I have to admit that the reception is good with good clearity coming out of the ear piece. As for the pda function, i was using the mobile site for youtube. Cant seen to get any video to stream though. Kept getting no connection even though i'm hooked on via Wifi. I installed some of the softwares that i'll be using for work. Took me a while to find out how to install the software cause I was used to the Palm way of doing things. Had to fiddle with it a while to find out that I had to reboot my device to complete the installation. sweat.gif
Navigation between installed databases were smooth with little to no lag. I'm using LexiComp btw. Gonna try Skyscape softwares when I have the time. smile.gif

I installed Mapking R12 onto my device yesterday. A bit space intensive so i removed it blush.gif
The ID u can get installing the software and the map u want to use. Then just load Mapking and switch to the map u wanna use. I think the default is HK demo. Once you got the map loaded then u should be able to see the ID with a "Register and "Trial" button on the right. Hope it helps.

Cheers

mapking r12 can be installed in msd-card without any slowdown, so space shldn't be an issue.

after u select the map (recommend penin malaysia), write down all the codes and register at the website.
u'll get an activation code.

trial period lasts 3 days only.

True that the software maybe installed into the microSD card. Prob is that i got another software that will eat up 1.5gb of space cry.gif

Btw, I have to add...the sound system on this device is quite good. Much much better than the sound from my samsung d600. Coupled with the bundled earphones and with the audio booster software in the device, the sound and the details from Dashboard Confessinals comes out bassy, crisp and with enough oomph...and I dont even need to max out the volume. rclxm9.gif

Updated maps from malsingmaps are offered to members who contribute to development of maps only. First you have to register as member, in the mean time you can use the older version map which is still downloadable.

Then while using, take on points of interests, or tracks of new areas etc and post up at malsingmaps. Send a pm to the mapper with your GPSID and u will be given unlock code for the updated maps.

as far as i know the mapking 2007 which was meant to be retail version (while the R12 version is bundled with) has some conflict with tytn2 (touch cruise shld be similiar) gps chipset. hence the slow refresh rate.

how come the salesperson install the mapking 2007 since the mapking R12 is already bundled in? they crack it? i don't think they will give the mapking 2007 software for free...

all mapking format maps can be used on r12 and 2007 version.. just rename the extension will do.

NO! this is absolutely rubbish talk!
thr is a "re-engineered" mapking r12 available dat can use the maps.
but since evry unit is given 1 free map, pls use it.
register at mapking website and get the code.
quite simple really.

dis is not problem with the application. rather it's de map dat is not connected fully so it gives error message "RT storage ..."

b4 making statements like this or proceeding to the wrong path,
pls use the internet smartly to search for the right information.

I guess the best bet is to use teh bundled software first. Its there for a reason though. After using it and finding out that you dont like it then only you go ahead to install your own 3rd party softwares.

In that note, I just want to ask, anyone can give some suggestion on how do I play 3gp files on the cruise?

When I bought my HTC Touch Cruise, the shop installed Mapking 2007 for me, not Mapking R12.
Anybody knows which one is better? Is Mapking R12 easier to use? thank u

Use File Explorer to find the picture you want to use as background. Then select it, under menu you'll get an option to set it as Today background. Once you select it you'll be given the opportunity to select it's transparency and also the area of the image you wanna use. Hope it helps.

Cheers.
