I wish to change my Whatsapp number without letting my contacts or current chat users to know my new numbers so when they continue to message me, they didn't know I have changed number and they can't contact me or they will be notified that this number (existing) one is no longer on whatsapp.

Anyone tried this method and if it works?

Delete whatsapp. Replace SIM. Create new account.

No. I saw if my contact changed number, I did get notified and I can see their new numbers.

you can try blocking them before changing, but I doubt if it'll work

When u change your account to new number, u have the option to NOT notify your contacts... However, groups will still see the changes...

I googled this and found this answer. I have quit all groups. Just don't want individual chat users to contact/message me on my new number.

I think I can buy a new prepaid account and test it myself. If it works, then I will change to the new number.

Didnt know can do that, i tought when change number means new account because even when they continue to message, only that particular number valid for that messages, if different number i don't think can receive it

What's the point they can chat with you but can't contact? So whats the point having a smartphone?

i really like the telegram feature which doesn't need to backup and you can subscribe to premium version and if the person is not on your contact list, they can't even message or contact you.

My current whatsapp has over 20GB media to be backup up

so it has taken up my google drive space for 20gb liao.

might be blessing in disguise. since fami wanna force us to use digitalid and they want the social media to do the ekyc as well, telegram is the way to go

As far as i know, they wont be notified. But once they opened previous chat with u, there is a notice on the screen...

It's good for ekyc all the social media cuz too many fake accounts especially facebook

Honestly I don't think it's really about protecting minors,that’s just the excuse they’re using.remember when Edisi Siasat Telegram got shut down a few months back?

I just changed number last month.

ya, I did see this notice screen on existing chat. Anyway that the existing chat users won't know this (not contacts - as I have removed all contacts)

Frankly i dont think it will be implement on social media, they only talk but nothing can be done, just come and go stuff

Parents the one needs to observe their kids, if they know how to teach their kids using social media correctly, shouldn't be a problem, preventing them not the solution
