This is the reality when you are above 45 and or high pay. The risks of losing your job is high, hence before that, investment and earning passive income is always welcome.

Once the curtain fall, it is hard to secure another job unless you demand lower but again at the mercy of hirer.

Unless you have a niche skill set or your name is highly known in the market for excellent results. That's diff story.

this is why it is useful to teach our kids dual skills

I know some friends who do part time piano lesson or part time tution.

in case you lose your job, you have fall back plan

And you can IR your employer while doing your fall back plan job

So in conclusion, among the 3 fields.

Is finance still marketable at 51yo ?

Yes, Im early 50s and recently got a job offer with 20% increment.

As for AI, its a good tool. Ive been using co-pilot to draft letters and memos. Saves time.

And AI will not replace me. AI doesnt have the relationship and social network. Also, we still need people to be ultimately accountable. Cant send AI to prison.

When you earn high, tough to contain or restrain yourself to splurge.

Got many earn a lot but stingy to spend,
when health issue kick in, wanna spend also no time.

Not splurging on luxury when one can afford it doesn't always mean stingy. They;re just financially prudent.

Some splurges like vehicles just another debt to service.. Health issues might kicked in whether own a BMW or Myvi. Wanna drive also no time /incapable when that happens. The feeling is much more sakit hati when the car is expensive.

Same like having a hot sexy wife but mati pucuk. At least those with average looking spouse wont feel the "loss" that much.
