That's the reason never take 90% and 7 or 9 years loan. 5 years 50% cukup, else means you cannot afford the car.

Likely both, those who take 9 yr loan and think they can sell and fully settle with residual amount really got problem with maths

Those take 9 years u usually don't want add extra commitment monthly.. For example there are company pay car allowance up to XXX amount as long as prove your loan repaymwnr.. So they stretch the loan to maximum and get the best car they want just to capitalise the full amount of car allowance.

Nothing to do with resale value, rather financial literacy. Most likely the owner bought the car with full loan / high loans and at max 9 years. So what outcome was he expecting?

all bank loans favourable are 4-5 years, won't kill you, but your downpayment must be high. for vehicle best to just treat it as point A to point B, level up and always do business. Every year try to save additional rm20k in epf until you retire if you makan gaji

7 years 90% still ok depending on what brand and model. managed to sell my car last year and settle the loan with surplus

9 years is really pushing it unless you plan to own the car for 10 years

My car market price RM 30k+ and outstanding loan left less than RM 10k.. If I trade in, can use it as DP for new car.. Just that no new cars that caught my eye now

perodua EV i give grain of salt for a while, because their tech mostly based on jap, but jap not really good on pure EV (hybrid probably okay)

for me, really hand itchy got plan to change, but mcm not worth for now. because all these thing improve real fast.
HEV/PHEV: H6 (thailand FL version, with straight DRL look better), Sealion 6 DMI (not yet coming malaysia)
BEV: Sealion 7, Model 3 LR
ICE: C9 (not yet test drive)

especially x50 replace part before it broke down not really cost a lot.
i recently changed timing belt, fan belt, alternator pulley. parts + labour total 650 ish. worth.

also i mention big battery... what i mean like HEV/PHEV(whatever you call it) with like 30kw or more, maybe 50kw battery on it. so i can get pure electric 150~200km, and still can use it with petrol

Why not 9 years loan

Ive sold mine last time (toyota car) after 8 years, not only i can use the money to pay for the new car deposit, i got enough spare money to buy electrical equipment and kitchen cabinet too from the sale..

u need to know flat rate vs effective rate.

2.65% of flat rate like in a car loan is 5% effective rate like a house loan.

my pren just value his GT86 at mytukar ..mytukar x makan ..but only help to share in bidding platform (and take commission if deal is ON)

I always don't like to opt for any down payment.. for me putting in my investment account will be the wisest choice.. in 15 years I've changed 6 cars.. 4 of them all did early settlement, 3 to Carsome since they always give me good price. I like 9 years loan it just made me richer in my accounts.

My dividend pays for the installment.. I buy car base on what my dividend can afford nowadays. So

Keep your HRV and settle your loan.

This what the rich and wealthy do. Sadly majority of Malaysian choose 9 year loan simply because they can't afford shorter loan tenure.

The interest amount for 9 years car loan is double that if 5 years.

If you dont mind and really seeking to maximize your cashflow then go ahead lo. Otherwise 5 years tops, maybe 6 year.
