Two teachers from SMJK Chung Hwa Confucian in Georgetown, Penang, have been charged in separate magistrates' courts for allegedly whipping the same 15-year-old student with a rotan in two separate incidents in 2023.
The accused, Lau Teik Hwa (47) and Choong Kean Beng (59), both claimed trial to charges under Section 324 of the Penal Code for intentionally causing injury. The incidents reportedly occurred in the school's discipline room, one in August and the other in December. Both teachers have been released on bail and are prohibited from contacting the victim until the case concludes.
bully case so rampant because: 1. teachers don't rotan student enough because fear of kena criminally charged for causing hurt or 2. students are too naughty because teachers don't cane them enough
intentionally causing injury.. at what extend is the injury? if really bad then yea teacher should be checked.. but if just normal cane injury, tolong la ibu bapa dont like that

The hard core fellas in my school last time that got canned never got better also. Some fellas just too far down the rabbit hole because of parents neglect. This was 80s/90s
And also something a childcare specialist shared about kids/teens these days. Parents that dont spare the rod also run up a brick wall sometimes. Some of their kids have legit answered back, ok give me my 5 lashes so i can go back and do my thing. We call them strawberry but some kids these days willing to do the time and treat it like an obstacle and not learn anything

What story? Whack in discipline room? I tot now only headmaster and discipline teacher can whack?
Maybe whack without proper evidence, when parents question cannot produce evidence hence parents report police..
Don't always assume the kid is wrong, some memang kena accuse, kids always lie and accuse others. Teachers need to be fair and impartial, assume innocent until proven guilty
rotan until patah tangan or kaki is it? Really necessary to put handcuff?
nowadays parents expect too much of teachers to educate and teach discipline to their children while neglecting their own parental duties.
If the child is discipline enough, teachers also wont resort to rotan as last resort. During my younger days, rotan is expected if you seriously violate school rules, otherwise kena stand outside or something only.
Honestly with the current strawberry generations, most teachers nowadays still stay teaching due to it's a government job and they entitled for pension.
If teachers are not part of the government staff, I'm sure there will be massive resignation among teachers in Malaysia.
In US, teachers are not government employee. A lot of teachers in US resigned due to students & parents attitudes. Salary also not worth with the workload they have to carry.
Heck I've read some of the posts by American, they can earn more by working as a bartender than working as a teacher.

Habisla, my school paderi semua masuk lokap. Rotan is the norm in Catholik schools, apatah public caning during assembly.

Yup. School held Internet cafe raid across the town, caught almost 50+ students. I actually went back next day, I’m getting whacked after all, why not go play more games. Saw only 2 other students there, their parents way more strict than mine, heard telltale that his dad whack his feet until black stripes like tiger

My 5-yo son is so gangster. I'm sure he'll go back and kill off the fellows one day if they rotan him.
He will lose contact with his school mates and teachers. But most likely he will still keep in touch with you. Maybe you better start treating him nicely
sjkc std lh rotan, my classmate everyday kena... forget do homework... in class still cannot focus... teacher give home still dreaming/ digesting information... 1 question 1 rotan... math got 20 question, 20 rotan lorrr... if school break eat more rotan, all teacher combined maybe total 300 rotan...

Why need to handcuff? Go to jail just to discipline the student. Later teacher dont bother about students, parent dont blame the teacher.
Next time, don't rotan students, u make students rotan each other.
I remember a teacher did something like that in school. Made 2 students slap or hit each other. Ah, the good old 80s where things like this was possible.
Even had a teacher tweaking nipples of boys who didn't finish their homework. Nowadays, I wonder if he was gay. Only targeted Malay boys, though. He was Malay himself.

It’s the headmaster’s fault for not transferring the troubled students to another school. Keeping them longer has only caused unnecessary stress for the other teachers.

agreed.. rotan with rotan markings is fine.. but if rotan till bleeding or open wounds, then that is wrong..
