My sister’s old Viva used to have this annoying problem. Whenever we stopped at a traffic light, the engine would die off if we didn’t keep revving it. So we always had to step on the pedal just to keep the car alive.

We brought it to a workshop to check, when it was there, the car is perfectly fine. It didn’t stall at all, so the mechanic couldn’t find anything wrong. We even test drove it with them sitting beside us, and still, the car ran smoothly without any issues.

But once we drove back on our own, the same problem happened again. Then we went to another workshop, and this time they managed to find the cause, it was just one wire that had come loose.

We have 3 cylinder engines from Kancil days. They are still running today. Cannot be so teruk till self destructing right? Maybe less refined or more complicated damping or have balancer shafts to make it more refined but still......

for city driving, 3 cylinders ok. For outstation high speed driving it lacks the smoothness as 4 cylinders. Sure la...3 dogs doing the work of the 4th missing dog... how can the 3 dogs be happy?? Sure la not as smooth.

Geely engines are copy cat of VW engines so I am guessing the symptoms is also similar.
in my experience with a VW, kruk kruk sound when tekan minyak could be timing chain hitting the timing chain cover or the water pump bearing.
if you have one of those mechanic stethoscope, you can put the probe on the timing chain cover and the water pump to check where the sound is actually coming from.

X50 3cyl should be using timing belt.
