Found a good deal (bout RM500 cheaper than official store) for a mobile phone in Shopee with very good reviews. Sells quite a number of mobile phones in his listings. Seems legit.

However, when pry further, seller does not have a physical shop but he's OK to do COD. Seller said the phone is malaysia set and warranty can send to any service centre in malaysia.

Has anyone ever bought from such sellers and faced any issues before? Would like to gather some input before buying.

Either you risk losing that 500 or pay more for a safer option.

Sometimes it's safer to pay more than risk getting nothing in return

Phones on shopee can get much cheaper than official especially during sales time, with shop and shopee vouchers together. I have been buying phones from reputable sellers (thousands sold, above 4.8 reviews) without issue.

1. Check same model at different stores. are any other stores offering roughly this price ?.
2. Check the reviews , is it legit or from bot?
3. is it verified store?

btw last time during samsung days, ayam always buy like this .so far no issue. they say its unlocked set, cheaper than retail by 300-400, ayam used it just fine . just that the box is opened for warranty purpose or something . but as long as got warranty online then its fine .

That's true but slashing 500 from official without vouchers? Unless it's quite an old model, if it's a newly released, could be a little dubious to risk.

For gadgets, better buy from reputable official shop vs "individual"

yeah after all those vouchers, rm500 cheaper than official store. seller has 4.9* review. i see most of his 1* reviews are from broken tempered glass, scratches on phone cases & etc. didn't see any low star reviews saying the phone is fake or they received a 2nd hand phone.

i asked the seller, he said it's not. but he said if want to use overseas sim card, 1st time using the phone must use a malaysia sim card and have a short 5 mins call. after that can use any sim card. not sure how does this work.

If voucher should be ok ba?

Why can't you use overseas card? That sounds a little dubious. Is it an unlocked set?

For phones, I will personally only buy from official Shopee stores or Shopee Mall ones. And video the unboxing of course.

TS can share link for us to evaluate?

I personally just bought my current phone from Shopee, worth around RM 1.2k.

At first I was also skeptical, but since my phone is a 1 year old model, I got it for a really good price.

Would I buy again?

Yes.
