I had a look at tiggo cross the other day at their roadshow, exterior looks so cheap looking especially the door panels. Then the interior dashboard quality looks cheap. Its not those good quality soft touch materials. Its those very cheap feeling soft touch material.

Might be a best seller if priced at RM80k or less. I am told no hybrid for Perodua. So to say this is going to sell well may be too late. X50, Tiggo cross is a very good alternative. I am just worried the 1.5 na engine will end up too weak.

But not sure now what’s the plan and if UMW still gonna release it, since delayed so long

Daihatsu tech is constrained by their D-CVT rated to 150Nm (excl HEV). Hence any models using it max 140Nm

NexisX50

Really think it's in the same category?

Concur with you.

ModelHP-NmPrice (K)
Ativa97-14063-73
Arus101-13373-78
Nexis105-140xx-yy-zz
X50 Exe Pre178-29086-98
TiggoCross145-21089
WR-V121-14590-100
X70175-25599
Omoda 5C156-230100

The X50 Exec at 86K is just too well equipped. Thats why its out selling even the TiggoCross Turbo. Nexis constrained by Daihatsu transmission competing with Myvi 2NR-VE engine likely can only price around 74-82-90K for its X, H, AV variants.

mana well equipped . X50 exec is incomplete ADAS . if P2 can offer at least ACC / ICC at same price or a bit more, abis lo .

also after subsidy removal, ppl will think twice before buying fuel thirsty cars , even how high the power is on paper

Subsidy removal.. πŸ˜… Isnt Ron95 dropping to RM1.99 for majority?

When i dont floor the accelerator,
My current X50 (TGDI) normal drive 12kml,
Alza (2NR-VE) ard 14kml

Normal monthly travel 1500km, thats difference of 18 liters.
If Ron95 increase RM1 (for me since im not the majority unaffected), then I pay extra RM18/month driving the X50 instead of YarisCross (same engine, transmission as Alza)

Geely bought P1 just to market their car here, no technology worth them buying from for P1, ah.. and also they can own Lotus from buying P1, not like Volvo has a lot of technology, if Geely come in with their own brand, they will need to spend a lot on marketing, now with P1 brand, they can skip a lot of that effort :X

I think cheaper to sell one car and take grab when another vehicle needed.

My X50 hits 12kml in normal drives. Thats pretty reasonably for 1.5T

However you're right, for really sedate drivers who stick to speed limits (hopefully not in the outer lanes), then NA engines are sufficient

I would say it would sell like hot cake if we can get the Hybrid at RM90k but I am told by Perodua SA no hybrid for us. If sold under Toyota maybe RM100k or more.

My Toyota salesmen said after Sime Darby took over Toyota, the price actually are cheaper other than the ridiculous Camry. The most apparent would be the Cross. Hybrid can be had with rebate around 131K. If that is UMW, new models usually they will increase the price further.
Ativa AV at 73K, Nexis non-hybrid should be 85K and Yaris Cross Hybrid can sit at RM104,999. Then with rebate, it should hover around RM100K for the hybrid.

is not about tech. i dun belip they dun have the skill, knowledge or tech. it is 2025 already, what kinda engine tech u looking at on ICE.

is more about refinement, how detail, precise and the amount of effort you put into tuning the small piece of component.

for CCP car manufacturer, that is not that top priority, they are "car seller(not researcher, not developer) at their core" does not mater if the care fuel efficient or not, as long as they sell.

To have the refinement , u need the tech to do it. To have the tech to do it, u need the technical knowhow.

To tune the engine properly, u need knowledge. U cant just google it . With knowledge, then only can u have the technology required to create a high tech chassis.

China does not have the knowledge to create new cars. China only have knowledge in copying others and assembling cars. Thats why China is so good in manufacturing major companies products

like i said, now is 2025 already. ICE tech isn't rocket science (heck they can even build rockets and bombs). there is no valid reason they can't(technically) do it, except if they are not willing(do not want to) do it.

We talking ICE here not PHEV engines. Batteries have no moving parts. They are easy to produce once you get the recipe right. ICE engines are not easy to make, and CHina ICE engines are not great at all

And no, there are no Japanese carmakers buying from BYD. Even your link doesnt work

like i said, now is 2025 already. ICE tech isn't rocket science (heck they can even build rockets and bombs). there is no valid reason they can't(technically) do it, except if they are not willing(do not want to) do it.
*
It is rocket science. It might look easy but its not. Thats why China ICE engines dont perform well in real life when it comes to fuel consumption and reliability. China is only good in making an engine that works, can move and bring you from A to B. But Japan are on a whole different level because they are legendary in making engines that form part of the soul of the car.

China engines will always boast high HP , but the moment you stress it out at high speeds, you can feel the engine is stuggling. That doesnt happen on engines from Japan even when they produce lower HP.

We talking ICE here not EV batteries. Batteries have no moving parts. They are easy to produce once you get the recipe right. ICE engines are not easy to make.

The Chinese r not wasting their resources on ICE tech, a has been that will be soon replaced. They r going full force on EV. The longer the legacy automakers glued to their old ICE tech is to the advantage of the Chinese which would conquer the auto industries very soon.

China knows the only way to compete in the car market is EV Because their ICE sucks ass.
Also because best friend Yi Lon Ma gave them homework to copy. biggrin.gif

So all they need to do is mine as much Lithium as humanely possible and make batteries. The cars are just empty shells to put batteries on

There is no competition in EV for the Chinese, they have already leapfrog the rest, leaving ICE tech dead. Even existing ICE makers have slowdown their investment on the dead tech.
And the rich legacy automakers r waiting as sitting duck waiting to be slaughter. They cant even compete in simple tech like EV n battery, must be stupid.

EV will come a bit earlier... Like September. Will called QVE

your X50 can get 12km/l? no way... i dont belip, unless you roll on highway all the time. your X50 apa variant?

my X50 TGDI flagship. this morning just isi ron95.
rm72 for 35 litres when fuel bar left with one. can go ~310km max. which equal to around 9km/l - which is really bad

ycs your x50 apa macam minyak makan?
*
Yes i roll on both highway and city when not jam. 😎
You didnt read the literature when bought your X50?
TGDI fc is lower than MPI (15.6kml vs 15.4) but the best I could get with sedate drive is 11.6kml.

This fc mentioned is for the purpose of comparing to 2NR-VE the new Nexis is most probably going to have that avg 14 kml in the same sedate drive style.

Wanna talk about X50 fc we go to Car Clubs.

Higher profits from more sales allow bigger budget for spare parts, no?

If only sell 100 units per year, how much profit margin needed to keep all the parts for major breakdown?
