for ATi i am referring to XGP (eXternal Graphic Port), which allows the AMD Puma laptop to connect to a desktop GPU to provide better graphic performance... a much cheaper and mobile solution compared to Nvidia's SLI in 17" laptops...

slightly better... both of them ve exactly the same spec except for memory controller

if HD3200 has got SidePort, the difference is even smaller

either of them are not good for hardcore gaming...

light gaming, both are okay...

anyway HD 3450 > 9200M

8600M better in terms of gaming performance...

but like i always say, getting any GeForce 8M now is asking for trouble...

for videos conventionally ppl believe ATi is better as it gives better colour... and ATi can do 100% full CPU offload for HD videos as well..

there's no full score...

benchmarks shows the relative strength of the hardware compared to the others... but this can be biased... due to driver issues (optimization, etc)

usually ppl prefer to look at FPS (frames per second) while playing games... this gives a more realistic, though not totally unbiased, picture... generally speaking, 30fps is considered good...

Nvidia supports HD playback since GeForce 6, but it was a broken one...

proper support since GeForce 7

ATi stole the limelight with Radeon X1000 series, being the first to come up with proper support...

but now ATi is still the better one as it can achieve almost full CPU offload... Nvidia still need the CPU to do some work on some HD formats...

9600M GT... it would smoke the HD 3450 totally...

by CPU offload i mean the decoding of HD videos is offloaded from the CPU and the GPU does the decoding instead... not a necessary on systems with high-end CPU, but works wonders on budget CPU...

Reason? I heard tat geforce 8600m n 8400m have overheating problems oso. so is it advisable to go 4 geforce 8600m?

QUOTE(shawn-mode @ Oct 14 2008, 01:16 AM)
8600 is comparable to 3650. 3450 is comparable to 8400. more or less.
you can google down and find the difference or reviews.
yes there is some issue but i am not sure is 8600 is included.

it all depends on the mobo chipset, not the CPU...

PM/GM965 can support up to 4GB...

PM/GM45 can support up to 8GB
