These people are burdening others in the country with their inconsiderate and selfish behaviour.

I wonder what the racial breakdown of the borrowers and defaulters are,  and the amounts. National security secret?

PTPTN shock: 400,000 borrowers haven't paid a sen in over a decade

https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2025/06/...sen-over-decade
PUTRAJAYA: A total of 400,000 National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) loan recipients have never made a single repayment.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said that the outstanding amount had reached RM5 billion, involving borrowers who had completed their studies over a decade ago.

"This involves individuals who, from day one until now, have not paid a single sen.

"This group of defaulters — numbering around 400,000 — has amassed RM5 billion in unpaid loans over the last 10 years or more," he said during a Higher Education Minister's briefing session with editors-in-chief here today.

Zambry said that PTPTN offered flexible repayment plans and loan restructuring options to assist borrowers facing financial difficulties.

"If the arrears are substantial, borrowers can discuss an initial payment amount with PTPTN officers. We don't demand 100 or even 50 per cent upfront — the arrangement could cover several months of monthly instalments, depending on the arrears period.
He said repayment amounts were assessed based on salary slips — usually around five to six per cent of monthly income.

"We also consider the borrower's age. For instance, if the borrower is already 40, the repayment period can be extended up to the age of 60.

"We have several parameters to determine the lowest possible monthly instalment and the upfront payment. Typically, the minimum amount covers between three and six months of instalments," he added. On Feb 24, it was reported that total of 1.2 million PTPTN borrowers have yet to settle their loans, resulting in outstanding debts of RM10.8 billion as of Dec 31, 2023.

Auditor General Datuk Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radhi, in her latest report, said outstanding education loan repayments had also increased from RM7.316 billion in 2019.

damn... bodoh me, din want to get the load last time.
if used to buy BTC then millionaire liao.

anyway- it is want to get them to pay, or dont want. where got such things as borrowed already got to beg them to pay back,

macam another tongkat la.....

in short- just link with LHDN to make extra deductions from pay la.... small amoutn over a period also can. Of course, those work as grab or flip burger... we can let them go la..... but those got permanent employment - should at least force them to pay.

For those sudah long overdue, gov must put them under blacklist, and then auto deduct during income tax filing time. Where there will be an extra column add-on for ptptn during final checkout to get them pay asap. Since everyone have to file income tax to claim tax exemption deductions, this is make all those PTPTN defaulters to pay already. If by chance, they haven't file income tax before because no job, then just let them go for now. Since no point chasing these group with no job for ptptn if they got no salary to survive.

As for the current ptptn holders now still studying, before these ppl graduate, faster put them on the bar list for overseas travel first. So they are all forced to pay. If they default more than 6 months, update the status to CTOS, and then do the auto deduct via income tax like the old timers defaulters.

IF THE GOV IMPLEMENT THIS NOW, in 5 years, we would reduce the ptptn bad loans by at least 80% already.

It's so obvious this solution works, yet the gov only talk and no action. But the Palestine's' donations and immigrations can get done so fast. What the hell is they doing.

Walao, these people really ah. If education became free, then who is going to pay the lecturers salary? If all subsidized and run like government hospitals, then you'll get overworked and underpaid teachers just like how gov docs are getting now, resulting in teachers brain drain. Highly qualified teachers with experiences would all go private unis to teach, and then end up, the "free" educations unis just have low quality teachers which tend brings out low quality graduates. When such graduates want find job, they get mostly only low pay job offers because low skills due to poor education.

In the end, the so called free education will be low standard like current SK/SMK levels. If you want quality, must attend private, and so ppl would still ends up having to take personal loans with interest rates of typically range from around 4.38% to 24.51% per annum instead in order to attend private unis.

Really, these protestors have no brain and no logic thinking. No wonder they dare to default ptptn loans.

bang one thing. i'm paying my ptptn loan on schedule

I'm just saying they did promised it .. i gave receipt. in the first one (where they have dap + pas coalition) they said abolish it totally.

then in the newer manifesto they did revised it to 4k.

I'm just saying 2018 did they (Dap + Pas coalition) won the election and become government?

like i said, i'm one of the voters of the current gov (or atleast the DAP + PKR coalition ) but dont say they are saint that they never break any promises la bro.

be realistic and judge on the facts. did they promised or not? YES . did they break their promises ? For now yes jugak.  no need change the goalpost

Alot of their type all doing odd jobs, grab riders, grab drivers all where got epf. Impossible to deduct

Besides, for every case they need court order to instruct their companies to deduct for ptptn. Alot of work and time consuming

Very simple to resolve. Tender out collection to 3rd party and they handle the collection. It will be a gold mine contract.
