customer service ask to delete app. the question is which app ???

i have many important money transaction requiring approval.

why cant they solve this immediately. at least provide a temporary workaround !!

i find it quite invasive that:
1) in order to use online banking, must use your buggy app
2) your buggy app force u to grant permission to your phone, location, storage in order for ut to work.
3) they mis-used thr permission grant to scan your ohone for other apps & might refuse to work if detected sideloading app.

not all sideloading apps are harmful.
there are many reasons to sideload legit app:
1) legacy app that is used on some of the older devices like older cam, older alarm system.
due to not mainstream, app is not updated by developer.
the existing apk is no longer officially supported on newer android, hence u sideload said app.
2) due to reason of bugs & compatibility, u prefer or have to use a specific version of that app.
u download that version apk & install it manually.
3) due to some app developer lazy, even though your os version supported, but your phone model not supported.
workaround is sideloading.
this happens to my boost wallet previously.
it will on & off, sometimes show supported, sometimes not supported in playstore.
so i resort to sideload.
4) i'm simply an app developer, or developing app for hobby & testing on my device.
ie, i can debeloped a highly specific app that automate 1 function that i use on my phone.
i dont intent do release for public, because this is for my specific use case only.
self develop, self sideload.

the fact that android allows sideloading shows that it's a function, & not wrong to do so.
but bank spy on my phone & treat it like i rob a bank or something.

too many bodo ppl kena scam from sideload apk apps..so bank put in this restriction to stop bodo ppl from losing their money lo...

jump ship to maybank lo, they only will ask whether u want continue with your side load apps, if yes then kena hack they wont take responsibility

Recently i also uninstall shopeepay. But not sure it cause or not. Maybe coincidence.

i use a separate phone for my banking. only turn on when need to do banking and phone is always at home & off

no need headache on what app i can put on my phone. also nothing for hacker to hack on my daily phone

im started to beleive this ...

nowadays more and more app have this feature
HLB app also got this feature where it scan before you enter

try create a second space and download only sotong app

then install apps one by one to see which app causing this

Don't use APKs or sideload apps, especially for things like banking. You never know what code might be hidden inside those unofficial versions it could compromise your data, privacy, or even your money.

Always download apps only from official sources like the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. It’s not worth the risk when it comes to sensitive information....

1. Check you have developer option on > off it
2. Check you allow install from unknown source > disallow it
3. Check whether there is any unconventional app you install

do you have networking apps on your app list?
like the unconventional ones?

1. developer already off. (previously on)
2. all apps set to No
3. no unconventional or apk. everything always install from play store or huawei app gallery.

such as remote support apps? no.

ms/google authenticator consider networking app? these all from playstore.

Next time consider get a new backup phone just for banking, samseng a16 already enough (do not buy huawei)

I believe sometimes they might be false reports especially on huawei devices

Ts, it could be malwarebytes safe browsing scanner under settings accessibility that is causing it. Try turning it off & see if it works.

Maybank app at first warn malwarebytes is not safe app & I can proceed after accepting disclaimer. Bout 2 months ago, it won't le me proceed unless I turn off safe browsing scanner.

Hope it works for u & yes I reported that malwarebytes is antivirus to mae, but they ignored it still flag as harmful.app.

Unfortunately looks like nothing much u can do ts. On sotong fb got other users complained about the same issue.

When one of admin replies is to restart & reinstall app. They are practically admiting they screwup nothing to do with user.

Only thing u can do is complain on FB so that sotong will escalate the issue. If they see too few complaints then will ada aku kesah attitude.

Public Bank also has this function.. They will scan your phones for unathorised apps

do you have developer mode turned on?
my son once turned on developer mode on my phone because he wanted to sideload an app then forgot to turn it back off.
i received an email from my company saying my phone was non-compliant to company policy because developer mode potentially enables backdoor access to your phone.

i think maybe the cimb app is detecting developer mode is on in your phone and raising an alert?

Don't sideload apps with bank apps la.

Many bank apps can detect non-compliant apps.

Myself using a separate phone for banking only. No additional apps from Play Store or otherwise.

Zero problems.
