so, the story goes like this la.. bear with me a bit

received a call from 012-2144983, introduced himself as Encik Azhar Mahmud, claiming to be from the Touch ‘n Go office.. at first sounded very convincing even gave me a badge number: TG10505 .. sohai this scammer very confident

then came the long story:
- my phone number was used on a different device..a Xiaomi Redmi 7
- that device trying to perform a transaction using someone else’s credit card to top up a TNG eWallet account linked to my number total of RM 25,000 (who so stupid to perform huge transfer ?)
- he claimed the actual credit card owner had lodged report to TnG office
- according to him, their investigation showed my number was involved and had been moved to this other device.
- he warned me that I needed to prove my innocence at TnG HQ before 1PM, or legal action would be taken.
- he even gave a report number: T166802P, asking me to “check it myself.”

...so i tell him that i will check myself lor.. say thank you, and ended the call. wasting my time.

so guys..is this a scam attempt?

If real case will be police ask u go balai record statement. Where go tng so free call to warn u. Kek

I received a similar call. Caller said from tngo HQ... But in the back ground I heard motorbikes exhausted pipes sound zoom by 😂😂. Knn.... 😂

scam. he's trying to call a lot of people and looking for one to take the bait. he think you might take the bait too by not checking but too bad for scammer

Anytime someone informs you via phone you must do this before certain time, and usually it's a very tight and impossible deadline, it's 99.99% a scam.

if search number in truecaller - come out "locky" (Loki from Marvel? Trickster? LOL). No whatsapp even though 012 number...confirm scam

The last time I got this scam call, I told the guy I just go to jail lo if I do wrong. He got angry and end the call.

next time got police or law enforcement call u say u do wrong thing, first thing u should say is jom jumpa di balai or their official ofis lets talk face to face, then see how they react

TS, pretty sure T&G already gave disclosure that they will only contact customers BUT only via their official office number. Anything outside personal numbers are most likely a scammer

their mistake is that report number. mybe a lot of people dont have time to cross check, but got time to listen to their shit story so can use the same template to scam more people ..but his tone really pro, really like officer style very calm and clear

Ya, I got the similar call, then I told him my office just opposite tng office, I can just walk over and check with them, plus I have a friend works in tng LOL, terus he bola kecut.

This morning a guy so called from SSM called, say got a company under my name was reported for scamming people, more than 30 aduan.
He ask me - u tau ni manyak serious tau, 30 aduans, you tau kena buat apa?
I say - oh, tak tau, u bagitau i perlu buat apa

Guess he can feel i am playing around, scold me with a word and end call.

They want you to panic, because you cannot make it on time. Then they will offer to "help" you call via their newly installed "hotline"...

In TS' case, since he can't go to the tng office, scammer will use the "hotline" and will get to speak to "someone from tng".... somehow last2 speak to inspector where he will be threatened to be locked up or have his bank accounts frozen unless he does something (like transfer money).

Just tell him 25k, so little? I normally top up 100k into my TNG.

I received a call from DHL asking if this is my number... 016 xxx xxxx. I said no that is not my number. Then he asked, "then whose number is this?". I told him, "How the hell I suppose to know whose number since it is not my number?"

Why not tell the scammer I just stole this phone, don't know who is the owner and don't disturb me, I want to reformat the phone and sell later and ask them whether want buy or not

I also kena the other day.. so ngam after i install RFID on my car.. i thought they called regarding that... same story.. my TnG used on a redmi phone bla bla bla. credit card linked to it auto top up 2K etc etc

so I asked him, what you want now? he said ask me do police report. .I suspect sure want connect me to police, i told him i won't go report police and i don't care since my TnG works fine and I am not locked out of my account..

Scammer is a local for sure.. speaks fluent local malay dialect.

maybe same guy. very fluent both malay and english. has a clear tone of voice, very calm. most probably they are professionals and have done this many times

Same s**t happens today, get a call saying fr TnG, grandma BS , gives me this code T166802P, transfer my call to orang Atas, I just act blur, and ask anyone can speak conton, by time someone speaks conton, I speak hindi.
Took 20min of they time.

Later on someone will call u , and mention this report number. Say u late to make report at hq. They will hope you will be spooked and follow their instructions

Police said if the call from a mobile number it is a scam.
But if you receive a call from +60322662222, not sure if it is a genuine or scam call.
Police said they wont call you, they will come directly visit you.
