Good job, MOT.
I believe all Malaysians would love to see sufficient enforcement of the law on the road after this. |

99% Limiter will spoil and company not repairing.
Your problem is with enforcement. And why is limiter and not GPS tracking by company or even JPJ ? |

Unfortunately, I have a feeling it will be like this: 1) announces date of implementation - say, 1 June 2026 2) persatuan lori dan bas (or whatever association) will plead and argue for more time and say costs will go up and will be passed down. 3) deadline extended 4) deadline extended... QUOTE(yushin @ Jun 10 2025, 10:34 AM) Cost of installing limiter Cost of limiter maintenance Cost of more enforcement... ahem ahem... Less trip because can't go fast Bus fare price hike incoming. Pay more for better safety QUOTE Japan has stringent heavy transport regulations, largely driven by the "2024 Problem" aiming to curb driver overwork. From April 2024, a 960-hour annual overtime cap is enforced for drivers, significantly impacting logistics. Drivers face strict rules on breaks, mandatory health/sobriety checks, and robust licensing. Vehicles adhere to rigorous size, weight, and emission limits, with strict maintenance and inspection requirements. For long-distance hauls, there's an increasing push for co-driver systems to facilitate mandated rest periods, with new rules on sleeping berths. Violations carry severe penalties, including business suspension or license revocation, reflecting Japan's commitment to road safety and driver welfare. society should not addicted to the low, cheap things anymore, that's the reason why B40s remain low income for life |

QUOTE(SuperTuhan @ Jun 10 2025, 10:30 AM) if JPJ found out during the inspection, suspend the license for this heavy vehicle for life. ALso during each time annual road tax renewal should take photo showing it is working... Plus in Dubai if they exceed it will make loud sound, at least the passenger in the bus know too. |

Kecian some ktards still thinks its something new. So still think Ah Loke is a genius here? Lol! Liow orders bus limiters for all buses 8 years ago Transport minister says the ruling was made three years ago and he wants it implemented immediately in view of the rising number of road accidents. PETALING JAYA: Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai has ordered all express and intercity buses to install speed limiters immediately. the real world is this
when someone buat mistakes and gov to implement to overcome, the victims will be the rakyat to tanggung the cost like scammers use mule accounts to receive funds. AT the end, those who are real and legit to open bank account yg suffer. |

Finally having something that is already implemented elsewhere for decade. But at the end it's still up to enforcement and anti tampering commitment from the manufacturer to make this effective

QUOTE(BL98 @ Jun 10 2025, 11:10 AM) rakyat willing to pay more for their bus fares? Last month I took express bus from Kanazawa to Kyoto. to get quality bus driver, need to pay more. to get better safety bus, need to pay more. everything cost money. 260km, bus stopped twice at R&R, each time 10 minutes. Every stop, before passengers can go down, bus driver went down to place wheel stoppers on the front wheel. The ticket cost - RM150 (4 seats per row). Seat got safety belt & power plug. If Msian bus could charge half the price, I guess the service quality could greatly improve. But with RON95 at RM2.05, many will feel it's cheaper to drive 260km IF bus ticket gonna cost RM75/pax. dattebayo liked this post

QUOTE(blanket84 @ Jun 10 2025, 10:49 AM) I agree. Thing is, many fleet owners already have this running for yearsss, with the advent of modern electronically controlled turbo diesel engine. They can even monitor the amount of diesel in the fuel tank, to detect pilferage of diesel fuel, unscheduled stops etc etc.Mandatory telemetry is more effective than speed limiter. Telemetry canβt be simply removed. |

BUT this is not the policy set by 2018 minister mah. QUOTE KAJANG (BERNAMA) - Malaysia will make it compulsory for all new express buses to be equipped with CCTVs while the wearing of seat belts by passengers will also be mandatory, the country's Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said. "It will also be made compulsory to install closed-circuit television (CCTV) on all new buses apart from raising the level of bus driver welfare," Loke told a media conference at the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (Miros) in Kajang, Selangor on Monday (Nov 19). He was speaking after a handover ceremony of an independent review panel's report on safety recommendations related to the deadly 2013 Genting Highlands bus accident that claimed 37 lives. He also said the compulsory wearing of safety belts for all new express and tour bus passengers would commence next year and enforcement on compliance would be carried out in 2020. Other proposals included ensuring that all buses were equipped with a brake retarder system and a speed limiter gadget, he said. A Malaysian Transportation Safety Board will also be set up to address road accidents, especially those involving express buses. Loke said the establishment of the body was among the suggestions raised in the Recommendation Review Panel report. Loke said 54 per cent or 27 of 51 suggestions found in the report had been implemented while 38 per cent or 19 suggestions were partially implemented and 8 per cent (four suggestions) have yet to be implemented. He said the appointment of panel members to study the implementation of the 51 suggestions had been carried out since July 19. Loke said the review panel was jointly chaired by Transport Ministry secretary-general Saripuddin Kasim and Miros chairman Lee Lam Thye. Some fella also named Anthony Loke proposed similar things but never do. Thank god now its a new minister and not Anthony Loke. MegaCanonF and Sihambodoh liked this post

And why is limiter and not GPS tracking by company or even JPJ ? Imagine, speed limiter limit the speed to 90km/h. This is ok for NSE, but would still be too fast for LDP or some stretches of WSE or Lebuhraya Timur Barat. |

those days telemetry system are expensive but now it is so common.... u can subscribe to cloud-based telemetry system and the supervisor/bosses will receive real-time update on mobile phone of where and how fast the vehicle is travelling .... all u need is just a small box that hotwire in vehicles and it will activate once the vehicle is start...

damn old news Minister should take responsibility for failure and RESIGN --- "https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/opinion/2024/12/02/bring-back-speed-limiters-for-heavy-vehicles" "One of the first official mentions of speed limiters was made in the 1990βs by the Malaysia Motor Traders Association (MMTA) as it was known then. Paul David, an industry veteran formerly heading the technical and after sales division of a popular commercial vehicle brand recalls: βSpeed limiters were proposed (by then transport minister) Ling Liong Sik about 20 years ago when I was serving on the committee of the MMTA.β --- so many dead to protect industry. conduct random checks every few weeks to ensure the limiter is not disabled after inspection. Once they see it was tampered with, they can revoke the license. Must conduct surprise random checks. This is the only way!

Speed limiter got use meh? Current heavy vehicle commerical register is
70/80 80/90 If bus traveling 80km/h top speed at that corner lppl many will die too if flip over Auto braking system/adas/adaptive cruise control/esp/ is more important than speed limiter MoT should discuss safety features what options available for commerical truck/bus from company like Volvo/scania then only implement and make it compulsory safety equipment needed to be heavy vehicle operator. Light vehicle travel 50km/h if hit trailer half roof already missing Conclusion speed limiter not useful at all Maybe long distance bus need to change it into low entry like city bus type at least is not as tall as current long distance bus at least can prevent and reduce the chance to flip. Malaysians: Speed doesn't kill. It's the sudden stop that does. Why blame on speed? Why implement speed limited
Malaysians: modern vehicles can easily handle higher speeds. Speed limits today is so old school. Need to be revised higher. |

QUOTE(Sihambodoh @ Jun 10 2025, 03:45 PM) Malaysians: Speed doesn't kill. It's the sudden stop that does. Why blame on speed? Why implement speed limited Most modern car now capable to reach 200kmh easily. but the road not capable. the road still the same. when I see, motorcycle or car skid due to poor road condition, I only laugh bro. public road, still the same since 30 years ago. no point car capable, but road still the sameMalaysians: modern vehicles can easily handle higher speeds. Speed limits today is so old school. Need to be revised higher. even on grik accident yesterday. the road are so small ane curvy. that road is good standard 30 years ago. but now, with more and more traffic, its safety become reduce, yet got bodo driver speeding and kill 15 innocent people. |

QUOTE(river.sand @ Jun 10 2025, 12:23 PM) I also think GPS tracking is better. Even 90km/h can kill. Take corner at that speed already masuk gaung.Imagine, speed limiter limit the speed to 90km/h. This is ok for NSE, but would still be too fast for LDP or some stretches of WSE or Lebuhraya Timur Barat. It's the driver that needs to be limited, not the vehicle. |

Newest trucks rear have one dedicated red fog lamp can be turned on but is very silau if forgot to turned off for other drivers, just like other car tidak mengapa attitude especially you see those vios literally turned on rear red fog light doesn't matter rain or not foggy or not silau until i need to wear Brown color polarized sunglasses at night , u see Malaysian driver attitude fucked up or not got good thing also don't know how to use. They are really hard to see on the highway at night... |

QUOTE(scorgio @ Jun 10 2025, 12:02 PM) Last month I took express bus from Kanazawa to Kyoto. avg malaysians are poor la. fee goes up, ppl protest.260km, bus stopped twice at R&R, each time 10 minutes. |

QUOTE(Dweller @ Jun 10 2025, 02:05 PM) For bus, just do collaboration with redbus and easy book. Bus user can crowdsource GPS speed info from their phone at the exact bus ride time. If exceed speed, Redbus auto report to JPJ and alert user when buying ticket that this bus drive recklessly JPJ should utilise MyJPJ app so that one can capture real-time GPS speed on bus and report directly. |
