Later set up committee to investigate the accident ! And find bus, driver and company has multiples traffic offence summons. And then set up another committee to investigate why still allowed to operate and drive. Then set up another committee to propose what to do to prevent and set up another committee….. u fill the rest with whatever committees la. All these committees are set up cos someone does not have the balls or ethics to be tough on the offenders. i5warior, HolyValkyrie, and 12 others liked this post

Bus usually have seatbelt but it is usually poorly maintain and no enforcement to use. Only some countries the driver will do a spot check or announcement to as people to wear.

Selling number plate is more important than enforcement
At least make it mandatory for all buses to have 3 point seatbelt, maybe some of them might have survived and of course actual enforcement by assistant driver to ensure everyone is wearing it although it is most likely that the driver and the assistant dont even wear seatbelt themselves This post has been edited by backspace66: Jun 9 2025, 08:51 AM |

It is thanks to the internet that we get to see such tragedy quick and demand prompt action. Back in the 70s, 80s and 90s whenever these things get reported in the traditional media, backroom politics already settled things to ensure those with vested interests remained safe from the fallout. Express bus speeding is a common occurrence. I had one tail gate my bike at 120 on the fast lane down merona in the rain and at night. Even on my bike I cant go faster with very little traction and limited visibility from the spray coming from the lorries on the "slow" lane...those were speeding as well. Damn scary shit. Stuck in a situation where I can't go faster and can't merge into the left lane. If I were to brake or go down, I would be steamrolled by the bus behind. Better and easier than to make tough but right decisions , no? will committee members get pay and allowance and free food and coffee?? |

QUOTE(backspace66 @ Jun 9 2025, 08:47 AM) Selling number plate is more important than enforcement Not gonna happen. At least make it mandatory for all buses to have 3 point seatbelt, maybe some of them might have survived and of course actual enforcement by assistant driver to ensure everyone is wearing it although it is most likely that the driver and the assistant dont even wear seatbelt themselves |

I am extremely upset. Really upset. And I want Minister of Transport to immediately stop all buses from travelling at midnight at Highways. Don't take risks, lives are too precious. I always, and say it again, again and again. Never allow buses to drive at midnight. Never never never. Midnight times are for sleeping, the road is dark, whole bus passengers are sleeping, bus driver will feel bored, and sleepy too, and the driver will tend to speed up.. All add up to accident. And the most important thing, if there is any accident occurs, the passengers cannot escape easily, because sleepy, tired, and too dark to find the escape ways. 😭😭😭😭😭 solarmystic, Graiggg, and 3 others liked this post

QUOTE(jaycee1 @ Jun 9 2025, 09:18 AM) Express bus speeding is a common occurrence. Try 2 big double decker buses trying to overtake you at the same time on a double line, cornering hilly road, at midnight. That's what happened all the time in KK-Sandakan road.I had one tail gate my bike at 120 on the fast lane down merona in the rain and at night. But poorly, we dont have that execution in Malaysia. You can't ban all vehicles travelling at night just because the accident rate in evening are higher. Some perform well manner driving in late night, and they got shift. Eventually the responsibility are all up to the operating company and driver. solarmystic, blizzlee, and 4 others liked this post

Who do the enforcement (from the relevant authorities)...
those officers are part of 'rakyat'. since from the beginning, rakyat (which include those officer) don't give a shxt* about road safety Why 'we' still want/expect the officer to give a shxt about those heavy vehicles? (proof: way too many don't give a shxt about seatbelt and baby flying out from the car). QUOTE(MegaCanonF @ Jun 9 2025, 07:41 AM) |

1. There is no reason why an education or college bus should be traveling at night as it is not a scheduled bus services.
2. Is it the guard rail puncturing the bus that caused the massive casualties? 3. The lack of enforcement in this country is the root cause. You can blame Anthony but it is the people on the ground that is not doing their jobs. JPJ and police are employed full time. So where is the man power in charge of enforcement? At the end of the day is the jaguh kampong not doing their jobs resulting in accidents. 4. Malaysian drivers are to be blamed for their poor attitudes to road safety. Seat belt is there. Baby car seats should be used instead of hand carrying. Typical attitude as long as don't happen to me. |

QUOTE(annoymous1234 @ Jun 9 2025, 10:15 AM) I am extremely upset. Really upset. And I want Minister of Transport to immediately stop all buses from travelling at midnight at Highways. Don't take risks, lives are too precious. Nah, without death of vvip son or daughter. This will never happen.I always, and say it again, again and again. 😭😭😭😭😭 |

the way they get paid as bus driver is incentive for them to speed
took bus to sg often and the driver always speed coz they are on a time atk and wont get paid if they are late or whatnot imagine traffic got worse or stuck at immigration coz someone forgot their passport or they didnt know they had immigration issue then ur pay kena docked, they will want to speed too they even have a silicon pad that they put on their steering wheel so they can put their phone there to play while driving lol cant do anything about it since they also need to cari makan and the company is the one setting the rules not sure if this is the case with this incident but surprirse no one mention what was the cause just a bunch of rips |

Nothing gonna happen. They set up committee or revoke company license, but owners won't face any punishment. Just go open another RM2 company and start again. Remember when they want to make it mandatory to put black box in all the bus? Remember when they say cannot tint the bus windows? Remember when all buses must have speed limiters? In Malaysia, guardrails are designed and tested to safely withstand vehicle impacts at a range of speeds, typically around 100 km/h. Some older guardrails might have been designed for 100 km/h (P Design Vehicle) but may not be safe for newer vehicles, speeds, and driving practices.

some news
https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2025/06/...crash-killed-15 UPSI student recounts harrowing bus crash that killed 15 GERIK: Wan Muhammad Hanifah Wan Azman, a 22-year-old fourth-semester Animation Design student at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), described how a routine journey home after the Hari Raya Aidiladha break turned into a nightmare. The Jerteh, Terengganu native boarded a chartered bus bound for campus at around 9pm yesterday, a trip he had made many times before. He recalled being awake when the crash occurred, noticing a strange burning smell moments before disaster struck. "The journey was fine until I suddenly smelled something like burnt rubber or brakes. The bus then sped up and swerved to avoid a car ahead before flipping over," said Wan Muhammad Hanifah, seated three rows from the back. In the immediate chaos, he heard screams and the driver shouting just before impact. "It all happened so fast. One moment we were on the road, the next everything went black. When I opened my eyes, people were crying and calling for help. Bodies lay everywhere — some bleeding, some motionless," he added. Despite his shock, Wan Muhammad Hanifah managed to pull himself from the wreckage. "I was lucky to still stand. I helped lift two students — a boy and a girl — from the bus. They had broken bones but were alive," he said. He described a scene of confusion and heartbreak, with many survivors injured and unable to escape. Strangers in passing vehicles stopped to help — some praying by the roadside, others offering water and comfort. "This experience will stay with me forever. We just wanted to get back to campus. Some of us never will," he said solemnly. Wan Muhammad Hanifah expressed deep gratitude to rescue teams, hospital staff, and the public who rushed to assist. Bandaged hands resting on his lap, he said that he had been discharged from Gerik Hospital, with a friend's father assisting with the paperwork. He informed his parents he had only suffered bruises, reassuring them there was no need to come to the hospital. |

QUOTE(enterthefatdragon @ Jun 9 2025, 01:35 PM) first thing first, ask u dont driver over 110/km/h, can u follow? or follow the speed limit We got very serious issue here. this accident will repeat sonner if not later. why I said so, is due to, our culture. we dont have self awareness..dont use handphone when driving... dont run red light..... dont do illegal u-turn.... dont drink and drive.... enforcement is one thing.... if rules also cannot follows and need enforcement each time..... just like smoking, ask u dont smoke....u still smoke then kena cancer, blame health minister? and also sugar intake, obesity leading to diabetes minister fault also? when accident happen, blame anthony loke. but the bigger issue is, our driver is not discipline. majority dont have self awareness to drive safely. then majority dont have awareness to maintain their car properly. car got brake issue, leaking issue and etc. people also not have awareness to maintain their health properly. our people easily overslept on the road. and people that speeding have very poor knowledge when speeding. such as use crap tyre. use cheap car, use old car, speeding when weather not good. speeding at wrong place such as small narrow road.speeding at very curvy road. so many things wrong in malaysia. seiferalmercy liked this post

QUOTE(milolauda @ Jun 9 2025, 01:04 PM) gomen changed nothing will change bro. u go change pm, change minister, change party, all will not solve the problem. one thing can solve the problem is, people need to change their driving habit la. PM changed but those incharge of enforcement ARE THOSE FROM THE NAJIB ERA , THEY WONT DO ANYTHING , JUST MAKAN GAJI BUTA But, does people ready to change their driving habit?. sadly no bro. big no. our culture is rushing culture. many other aspect contribute to this also..many aspect can be control. such as, if the bus said brake not good. then, why not properly maintain the bus. do many investigation also no use. we lack self awareness. and our life is cheap. some people dont valued their life. some people dont care to promote our road become safe. |

I sat those uni bus before, along those roads before they upgraded it Seriously the bus drivers, drive damn dangerous You need to actually hold on to your life, otherwise your head will hit a pole, the seat in front of you, the side window. They will suddenly dash out wherever there's a chance to overtake etc. Essentially speeding. Thankfully survived. It's an accident waiting to happen. JoLee liked this post

QUOTE(fongsk @ Jun 9 2025, 08:05 AM) Later set up committee to investigate the accident ! And find bus, driver and company has multiples traffic offence summons. And then set up another committee to investigate why still allowed to operate and drive. Then set up another committee to propose what to do to prevent and set up another committee….. u fill the rest with whatever committees la. All these committees are set up cos someone does not have the balls or ethics to be tough on the offenders. ..and the bus company operator is barred from setting up another bus companybut end up with a new transportation company after 6mths. |

QUOTE(blanket84 @ Jun 9 2025, 11:58 AM) People blame minister because minister has the power to regulate and enforce. Even when you have 1001 list of laws, without enforcement, it would be useless. Who has the power to push for enforcement? Minister. fines for not paying parking ticket on certain majlis perbandaran also give discount... fine on paper says RM100 but if paid within 24hrs or 1 week it's RM10, that's like 90% fcking discount... If you notice, our citizens suddenly follow the traffic rules whenever they drive overseas, simply because the enforcement is very strict. Over here, we even have "year end sale" for lawbreakers. popo also the same, always got 1 special month of the day say if you come clear saman they give half price... what kind of sei sohai do this kind of promotion? it should be another way round isn't it? Give further penalty for not paying saman on time? Police should earn the late interests/fines and upgrade their facilities... Even some menteri got unpaid fines since YEARS ago also never get caught or kena sita by police, you know i know la maybe police and menteri both got hidden hands behind their back even the law for punishing the drivers also aren't strict enough, accidental killing someone on the road before this S41 was: jail 2~10Y + 5k~20k fine + >3Y no license, now they changed to jail 5~10Y + 20k-50k fine + >5Y no license (first offence), jail 10~15Y + 50k-100k fine + 10Y no license (2nd offence and above) Malaysians lives are cheap these days on the road, 20k-50k fine is nothing for certain "people"/"company", can just accidental kill with vehicle and get away with 5Y jail, 20k fines say because it's first offence. Should raise the bar to 10Y minimum / 200k-500k fine / >20Y no license, or even better just permanently cannot apply driving license AT ALL QUOTE(Sukhoi35mkm @ Jun 9 2025, 12:58 PM) should use time travel back to the time and kill the guy that invented the stupid LED bulb... so fcking annoying to see some people installing 3rd party super ultra max pro LGTV+ LED bulb to their headlights. I got one time travelling down to Johor and got 1 4x4 walao leh the bulb shine behind my car damn bright, I had to let the 4x4 take over meQUOTE(sihamsedap @ Jun 9 2025, 03:16 PM) bus crash = salah menteri tandas rosak = salah menteribasikal lajak = salah menteri org jatuh landasan lrt = salah menteri hari ni buasir = salah menteri kek hari ini not lucky = salah menteri AL must resign = salah menteri lel blanket84 liked this post

nowadays many people don't know how to drive at night.. high beam is must if nobody in front..
1.see road clearer 2.incoming traffic alert that there's a car in front so won't overtake anyone in front of them. 3. the one behind them who want to overtake can see how the road in front before overtake. the bus driver also don't know how to drive at night.. should have high beam first to see what kinda road in front before overtake. QUOTE(fongsk @ Jun 9 2025, 09:51 PM) Show-cause letter issued to bus operator after fatal crashPETALING JAYA: The Land Public Transport Agency (Apad) has issued a show-cause letter to the operator of the bus involved in the accident that killed 15 university students early this morning, says transport minister Loke Siew Fook. He said the action was taken immediately after the incident as part of the government’s commitment to ensure passenger safety and hold operators accountable. “At the same time, the road transport department (JPJ) is carrying out a safety inspection and audit on the bus and the company involved under the Road Transport Act and Land Public Transport Act,” he said in a Facebook post. Loke said both agencies are working closely to determine if there was any negligence or failure to comply with safety standards by the company. The minister said further action would be taken based on the outcome of the audit and investigation. A total of 15 Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris students died in the crash on the Gerik-Jeli East West Highway, near Tasik Banding. A total of 48 victims were involved: 42 students, the bus driver and his assistant, and a married couple along with their six-year-old daughter and three-year-old son, who were in a Perodua Alza the bus collided with. Earlier, the bus operator said the vehicle had been recently serviced while the driver, loaned from another company, had a clean record and was regarded as responsible. fongsk liked this post

QUOTE(pokchik @ Jun 9 2025, 07:30 PM) Assumption : Well, the assistant is dead....1. Bus driver see chance - overtake. 2. Bus driver didn't expect he's overtaking near a corner. 3. Sudah overtake, want to go back own lane - "ah shit, corner la shibal" 4. Bus driver had to make split-second decision : -- a) drive head-on onto railing (and end up in the gaung), or -- b) try to steer the corner 5. In the split second decision, instinct kicked-in, driver of course steer his body away from the railings (but of course bus driver takde otak will not care about the passengers) 6. Bus got oversteered, hit the railings anyway & overturned. 7. Left side of the bus (if you see from behind) hit the railings & skidded ON the railings for a few hundred meters. 8. Passengers on that side got dismal chance to avoid being pinned onto the railings. Verdict : bus driver & assistant should be sentenced to death by hanging. |

Bus should be equipped with telemetry that send data back using gps and 5G Collect these big data and use AI to analyze bad driving and non compliance. Punish the companies before these bad practices lead to disaster. 13th and ericcheng2021 liked this post

QUOTE(killdavid @ Jun 9 2025, 11:11 PM) Bus should be equipped with telemetry that send data back using gps and 5G Even if implemented, magically rosakCollect these big data and use AI to analyze bad driving and non compliance. Punish the companies before these bad practices lead to disaster. Just ask the student in the bus 100% confirm the bus speeding The usual excuse for speeding is, if drive slow, fall asleep |

QUOTE(jojolicia @ Jun 9 2025, 10:46 PM) What authority can do is the very least be serious with compounds, traffic offences. No 1, DO NOT offer discount. What"s in the system stays in the system. Pay up or bar from road tax renewal, blacklist from insurance renewal, the vehicle bar from inspection. Unpaid summons drag drivers, registered owner jointly to court. The problem with Msia, selective enforcement. Cowboy. QUOTE(latipbogiba @ Jun 9 2025, 11:04 PM) nahh somehow I agree with both of u. and I think our citizen is much more discipline than singaporean. evidence is during covid, got fine and jail to those who beat sop and suddenly everyone stop doing the offence.if you strict, you really care, you will tighten the law, execute to the max. compare like this, why we MY when drive at SG we will follow the law but when SG drive in MY they do not afraid? our only hope is 2 point awas camera. I think our malaysian will become more responsible if everytime they speeding, everytime they will get ticket. not like current system, people can avoid summon by turn on waze. |

QUOTE(new in IT @ Jun 9 2025, 09:34 PM) Brake overheat will get burned, gives off smell and smoke, eventually the brake will fail. Most newest truck nowadays as long is Diesel they have exhaust brake can manually activate when down hill can work with any gear without need change to lower gear or constant brake apply if the downhill need 30 minutes or 1 hour distance long literally no brake needed to apply The problem with Auto car owner is rely on brakes to slow down instead of engine braking using lower gear. Not sure bus nowaddays still use manual or already transition to auto. bus/truck they do have Auto transmission also got r/r slow then d/d slow option the labeling depends brand from brand So depend the company who operates want more economic option or paying more for more safety features is really depends the company/private own choice since is not compulsory from jpj and also depends the driver old or younger or knowledgeable or read manual or not, because i saw many who old folks given the newest technology available truck to them they also dunno how to use the truck properly with all this safety/convenient feature. |

The original driver could not make it and replaced with lorry driver.. even the owners not too sure which exact driver was driving at the timeAnyway, our best Transport sales minister has spoken. Hahahahaha…. https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/...ter-fatal-crash ample room for pusing ![]() Syarikat Kenari Utara operations officer Mohd Nazri Nawi dismissed the allegations, saying they had carried out proper scrutiny and vetting processes before hiring him to replace one of the original drivers, who was still on leave. "I don't know how this allegation surfaced or who it was who claimed that we hired a lorry driver as the replacement driver. We have never hired bus drivers at random without proper vetting. "We admit that the replacement driver was from another bus company, but he is an experienced bus driver and has driven long distances. Not a lorry driver as alleged,” he told reporters at the Noreen Group operations office in Tunjong here. Elaborating, Mohd Nazri said both the drivers involved in ferrying the UPSI students have clean records and never used any illegal substances. He added that, so far, based on the information received, the first driver, who works for his company, suffered a broken arm while the replacement driver is in a critical condition. "I am not sure whether the first driver or the back-up driver was at the wheel when the incident happened,” he said, adding that he was informed of the accident at about 1am. IF this scenario doesn't concern, take serious amendment on this -- lets wait if the bus is full of tourist -- and the tourist leader ban visiting to Malaysia baru tahu ! or pehaps the viral of this scenario is in the international news, avoid Bus -- take ordinary car for safety -- or avoid in Malaysia at all far, location .. farisq liked this post

Only thing is if he has the balls to do it or not what with the rumoured “cartel” who people say is controlling everything in the transport business. He once did have a discussion with the lorry association about overloading…and then… quiet as mouse. He has the authority to right the wrong. Instead, he choose the more popular route which is set up committee and audits etc to let people forget and then rinse and repeat…. He was initially said to be best MOT when taking over with his walks around LRT/MRT. Have meeting with the prasarana bosses etc…. Now? LRT/MRT is still same , and only takes actions when someone died in LRT recently. |

QUOTE(GalaxyV @ Jun 10 2025, 10:33 AM) The road where the fatal crash involving Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students occurred at KM53 of the East-West Highway is dark, downhill, and winding, says Perak police chief Datuk Comm Noor Hisam Nordin (pic). He stated that 14 students were killed and 27 students injured, along with the 40-year-old bus driver and his 54-year-old co-driver, who also sustained injuries. The accident happened between 12.30am and 1am on Monday (June 9) as the tour bus travelling from Terengganu to Tanjung Malim rammed into the rear of the Alza while both vehicles headed in the same direction towards Gerik. |

I can bet most of the time you will see one or more beating the red light....What inspector general said is correct. u can have many many rules..but if no one follow the rules, at one time, gomen also cannot do anything..and that whats happen in malaysia. its shared responsibility to make our road safer. not authority jobs alone, and driver not playing their parts to make our road safer. |

QUOTE(new in IT @ Jun 10 2025, 07:15 AM) Drived few auto cars few times, freaks me up when comes to braking. And they say manual transmission are for boomers & outdated, to me it's safer coz we're always in control of the vehicle. The only way to slow the vehicle is to slam on brakes. Even you dont step on the acceleration pedal, the vehicle stills accelerates forwards. I'm driving manual. More options to slow down. But for weekend drives i still prefer auto MakNok liked this post

QUOTE(machomama @ Jun 10 2025, 07:53 AM) even the owners not too sure which exact driver was driving at the time ample room for pusing ![]() Syarikat Kenari Utara operations officer Mohd Nazri Nawi dismissed the allegations, saying they had carried out proper scrutiny and vetting processes before hiring him to replace one of the original drivers, who was still on leave. Damn... 2022 also happened. |

Saya Dah Cuba Segalanya!” – Pemandu Bas Mohon Maaf Kepada Pelajar UPSI
Pemandu bas UPSI dedah brek gagal berfungsi sebelum nahas meragut 15 nyawa. LOL 1 kilometer already know but keep speeding? Saya hanya mampu meminta maaf kepada semua dan saya menyerahkan siasatan kepada pihak polis. This post has been edited by zonan4: Jun 10 2025, 02:53 PM |

That’s why my parents always board the train We wont see a train crashing anytime soon. Infact they r more comfy than bus Suggest everyone here advise their parents so. Bus accidents are so prompt nowdays- most of the drivers r high on ketum anyway. Is a joke. WongTheThief, bigduck, and 1 other liked this post

The journeys so far okay although the bus feels like it's going fast like lambo but at least it's sticking at the left side most of the timecorrect me if I'm wrong but I think the bus for the UPSI could be 3rd party company bus, bus company that you just call from friend or recommended by someone, and this wasn't the first time accident either, the last time happened was 2022 and now 2025 |

QUOTE(submergedx @ Jun 11 2025, 09:53 AM) For sure night time will speed. I think Sri Maju is the only company that hardly speed.Look for companies with newer busses and European made engines as they have speed retarder to help in braking. The UPSI coach was a Hino I think. |

Gerik bus crash: Company's permit revoked with immediate effect, says Loke
PETALING JAYA: The permit for the company that operates the bus involved in the crash that killed 15 Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students has been revoked with immediate effect, says Anthony Loke. The Transport Minister also said the bus operator had leased its permit to a third party and that the vehicle's GPS was not activated, violating permit conditions. – Bernama source: TheStar jeng jeng jeng |
