8GB most likely won't be able to max settings in newer games and in open world games. Otherwise, i think its serviceable.

if both on par, it isn't exactly an upgrade. people tend to move up the value chain.
likewise i'm currently using 3060 12gb, i won't even consider 5060 16gb, at the very least pun 5070 16gb or 5080 super 24gb

If I'm in this scenario today, I would wait, or save more for better GPU. RX 9060 XT 16GB is around the corner as well. Expected price RM1749 (USD349 X 4.24 + 10% + 6% + shipping and some glowing numbers)

Only reason to go 8GB cards is when the user is doing work, or consistently play old or light games and doesn't play new AAA games. Some new AAA games are very demanding with the VRAM.

Almost all new GPUs today have 3 years warranty. Zotac has 3 + 2, some other brands and model has 4 years.

also, comparing a 4 year old card over the 5060 is stupid when you even said both is on par for a replacement for your 1060

There is no competition @ RM1500 for 5060.

If you are upgrading, yes.
If you are buying a new pc or a new card, then this would make sense if you OK with 8gb.

The only thing I don't understand is why would YOU even consider a 4 year old card to begin with.

Kinda related, I currently have a 3070 8gb. Recently upgraded to a 1440p 240hz monitor. Looking to upgrade GPU for between RM1500 to RM2000. Would a Rx 9060 XT be a decent upgrade to game at 1440p?

9060XT or 5060 Ti. Make sure you get the 16GB variant, this is the most important thing.

Outside of the 8gb, I think 3070 is still a very serviceable gpu.
