China Woman Illegally Hires Workers from Her Country to Renovate Her Home in Malaysia as Locals are “Inefficient”

A Chinese TikToker @豆总大马签证中心 recently admitted that it was not the right thing to do when some Chinese citizens took advantage of the free visa by working illegally in Malaysia during the 90-day period, but at the same time, she urged the Malaysian contractors to reflect on their inefficiency.

Dou Zong, who has been staying in Malaysia for a period of time, recently shared that a Chinese renovation team obtained a 30-day stay period through the Malaysia-China visa-free policy, and took advantage of this convenience to come to Malaysia to undertake projects, “defeating” local decoration companies with lower prices and faster speeds.

“The Chinese team could complete a project in 20 days, whereas the Malaysian team took about 2 months to finish the job.”

“Some of you Malaysian decorators claim that Chinese decorators are coming to Malaysia to take over the market, but why don’t you ask yourself why the Chinese can do it but you can’t?”

She also revealed that she had hired a Chinese decoration team to renovate her home, and the plumbing and electrical services they provided were “very good”, and called on Malaysian companies to learn from the Chinese’s efficiency and cost control.

The video, however, has been removed from her Douyin and Xiao Hong Shu (RedNote) accounts.

Regardless, what do you think of her take on this?

Cheaper and faster?
Can share contacts ah ?

I know house reno by some contractors need to take 2-3 months even though everything need cash upfront.

When I bought my house and did my reno, I was expecting my contractors to focus everyday at my house, but what I got is that they'll go missing a few days, then, come back do a bit and then go missing again.

Wires are cheap compared to the cost of the installation.
What is so hard to use, you can even verify yourself or buy yourself if you don't believe.
*
Sure, if u buy on ur own expense and get the right type and know how to verify. One time i caught a pakistani using a wire that is super thin for ac wiring, scold him kao ,and got a local wireman to redo. Even local wireman geleng kepala looking at the wiring

Pros and cons for consumers

Cons are as per what you say, and also local companies lose biz

Pros are consumers get cheaper service and might spur local companies to offer better services

Fact is even without those from China, a lot of people today are turning to Indonesians to do such work too and even if you engage local companies, the ones who actually do the work are Bangla or Indon

Renovation works are really dependent on the scale. If its condo renovation (the pic from the article looks like condo), you normally can't do much and if you buy higher end condos. you don't even need to do tiling anymore

So, 20 days to just install lights and cabinets is actually reasonable and if local companies quote 2 months, then can you blame consumers to turn to China contractors?

As for quality, local biz also not assured of quality too. So, if both also not assured of quality, most consumers would go for cheaper and faster service

If u source cheap unqualified local contractors also, onus is on u to kena if bomba check and see if u see product that not met sirim.

Ayam talking solely on electrical. The others one ayam dono.

Get a competent, accredited local contractors and dont support illegal workers who wont pay tax. It is a national betrayal

Home wiring only have 2 spec cables. Not that easy to fuck up. Unless contractor really cheap out and only use 1.5mm2 cables for everything and loop everywhere. Any higher amp draw circuits use 2.5mm2.  nowadays lighting use LED, not much current draw.

Even our local bangla contractors know better.  If anything, the fuck ups are usually the homeowner over loading the circuits. Usually biggest issue is bad DIY and owners hiring other contractors to "tambah" socket....they just loop instead of pulling to DB. New renovation, all wiring goes to DB and terminated with a CB.
But what is said is being true. There are PRC contractors that are accustomed to do things fast and very efficiently.

Well as long u supply the raw material
