What were their epf doing over 40 years of compounding then?

If you look at EDF data, over 80% of members couldn't afford to retire even at 70 y.o.

Following epf dividen average of 5.5,% even if u earn 1.5k salary for 40 years without change, will have 700k at age 60.

A simple calculation shows that those ppl are either they earn less than that or they cb go withdraw it end up having nothing when retire.

And I think is the latter.

If I say, all they need to do is work 40y at min wage at 60yo u will have 700k I bet ppl will work on it.

Suprise Suprise, all these faggot decided to spend instead of doing 1 thing they should do, ''don't do anything".

More like a Self inflicted tragedy

Ps: all epf member includes ppl who just join work force. Try look at data for ppl above 60yo

Uhh this is bs. Our life expectancy is only 75.2 years. Retirement age goes to 65 means on average only 10 years left. You expect people to work whole life for only 10 years of retirement and it's not even a proper retirement for most. Raising retirement age will make people lose interest in EPF.

Fuck no, I want to retire at 55 but since the government mandated retirement age is 60 I'm forced to work 5 extra years to get the full retirement benefits.

1 study showed that when 1 person continue to work post-60, every 1 year of work would shorten his/her lifespan by 2 years.

So if 1 person's expected life is 80yo, then by letting him/her work till 65, will theoretically lead to him/her die around age 70.

65 to 70 just 5 years, no more not enough money to sustain retirement issue.

This only benefit those in public sectors and glc can shake leg makan gaji before relax on pencen.

Those in private, once over 35 it becomes more and more difficult to hold onto your role. Once you are out, there is no choice but to do own business or starve. At this point official retire age or not doesn't matter.

Unproductive staff should not be allowed in public sectors n glcs

You know why they need to raise the age?

Majority of people used up all their EPF savings after they withdraw

Exactly, give 5 yrs more to earn some money. Most countries increase it to 65 to benefit their workers, v poorfarts do nothing to encourage that pulak...

Actudli if poor apa erti duduk rumah 0 income... itu enjoy retirement? Rich yes, go round d world etc ... but travel oso can do every year while working wat... cool2.gif

They worried they drop dead right after retiring and can't enjoy their money

However, the reality is majority of people don't even have enough after retiring and those who have some money from EPF tends to spend all within a few years

Those who voted want to retire at 60 and want to retire early, this requirement don't effect them at all. Nobody is stopping anyone from retiring at 60 or earlier. However, if you retire and your only source of income is EPF, it probably means you NEED to retire at 65 whistling.gif
