Admit wrong doing will get more lenient punishment.

Stop thinking anything about fair or justice, it's human made to persuade civilian to stay calm & don't cause riot or chaos.

That is the road safety law in reckless driving side only.

I think the family involved can bring up another case to sue the guy for hospital expenses, loss of income, etc later.

AFAIK wife hanging on, husband not as badly injured. Heck 12k fine probably not even enough to cover medical expenses to treat these 2.
*
12K fine not for the plaintiffs. They can still take this to civil court and sue him gao gao.

KUALA LUMPUR: A 32-year-old man was sentenced to 30 days in prison by the magistrates’ court today after pleading guilty to reckless driving.

K Darmaraju was charged under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 after sideswiping a motorcycle carrying a middle-aged couple on the PLUS Highway last Saturday.

He was also fined RM12,000.

Magistrate Khairunnisak Hassni ordered Darmaraju to serve six months in prison if he did not pay the fine.

out of court settlement wont go above 50k usually resolved within a year or so, above 50k, prepare for 5 year long battle with lawyers

this care, many patah and even coma, can go up to hundreds of thousand but longer battle time

my dad broke is femur, had to put titanium plate but i dont think can be considered as permanent disability, still got 92k out of it
