Floor below mine lodged a report of leakage at their bathroom ceiling.
Management checked and reported a loose (or deteriorated) discharge pipe end cap.
So basically water came from my bathroom unit (level 7), leaked and damaged level 6 bathroom ceiling.
Management gave 7 days to me (level 7) to seek professional help / to rectify the problem.

The unit is tenanted.
Now, question is... is the landlord or the tenant responsible for the repair cost?

Floor trap end cap? Did your tenant stick/ rod bang jolok from the floor trap?

Technically, there is no way the loose end cap could have been caused by the upstairs tenant, as the tenant would have no access to the floor below. It is highly likely that the end cap has been loose since day one but went unnoticed due to the upper unit being unoccupied.

When the tenant moved into the unit above and began using the toilet, the leakage started to appear.

The landlord would be responsible for the repairs.

More likely the usual problem in condos, leakage around the discharge pipe, with green mold around it, not the pipe or cap itself. Have to waterproof the whole bathroom floor or just around the John.

If it is the end cap itself, it's the below unit to fix it. Of course, with notice to upper unit not to use the bathroom when they are fixing it.

Well there has been cases where the tenant pour acid to clear the clog.
But generally is the owners responsibility.

Landlord responsibility.

Probably just an old end cap which deteriorated since they are normally just plastic. just get it swapped out and do the plastering and painting. quite a minor issue. probably just a few hundred to fix as no hacking needed. had to do that previously and was only like a two hour job for the handyman (incl going out to buy the right size cap)

UPVC pipe material & PTFE tape for plumbing work is corrosion resistance. It will not react with acid or alkaline.

If you pour boiled water > 60 deg C ( which is unlikely), that will be different case.
