it is good to see the increase of awareness among malaysians today to donate blood, i went to cheras leisure mall yesterday to donate and there's a lotta people over there...
compared to few years back, i can see the number of blood donors are indeed increasing, mind those reasons, i bet those who have experience seeing/experiencing themselves situations where blood is URGENTLY required will came to realise how important it is to donate... so no more "takut jarum" laa, "takut tengok darah" laa... what if you/your loved ones are already in the hospital and the doctor said to you "tak ada darah" laa...?? |

FYI, i'm a regular at the UMMC blood donation place. Been there for almost 10 times to donate blood, and the staff there is extra nice, plus they will make any drink that you want after donating, hehehe.
So don't wait for any blood donation drives to donate blood. Just head down to UM, or any hospitals and start donating. |

I'm a regular at pusat darah negara along jalan tun razak there an occassionally at SJMC. my last donation was 2 weeks ago. but i personally think that the donor's record being computerised and no matter where or when u donate, they can access ur donation history promptly. then u dont have to carry that red books or any other book for different hospital along. just enough issuing one donor identification card that can be recognised anywhere.
this can also comes handy should the unfortunate happened to us, then the paramedic can immediately identify our blood type and maybe we could be granted the benefits without so much hassle. just my 1 litre worth of petrol. |

i oso think that they should be able to include those details in MyKad, so in case of accident (never a wish) or anything, the hospital staff can promptly get the info on our blood type, donation record and etc.. i saw a MyKad reader during donation last week, but it is unused...ayo technology.... |

Called up PDN just now. They said there are a few places organizing blood donation drives. Stadium Bukit Jalil (Sat and Sun), somewhere in Jln Pudu which I didn't ask in detail as I won't be heading anywhere near there. The one I'm interested would be in Kajang, which would be held in Metro Point Kajang (Opposite Kajang Hospital). It would be on 3rd August 2008, on the first floor.

Yea me called PDN just awhile ago and said at Stadium Putra, Bukit Jalil (2-3 August 2008) got blood donation. From 1000 to 1600 i assume...I asked exactly where but they aren't sure..i wonder who are the organizers...I'd wish they just paste it at their website (PDN) so I don have to call up everytime...but look at their website http://www.pdn.gov.my/ i think you all would have a rough idea

i was donate my blood for the first time last week.. at beginning quite scare but my colleague courage me.. so i feel relax..
450ml is not much lor.. it take about 5-10 minutes only.. the needle also not big... dont scare about it.. i was also scared at beginning but after see the needle.. no need to scare..furthermore they will inject u with bius... the experience was wonderful..u feel relief.. because u know u can help someone with ur blood..trust me.. its a good feeling.. |

PDN rules back to 90day time period for blood donor. bling*2, i was mentioned by PDN's doctor in June 2008 that they accept donors whom want to donor blood every 56th day. now kenot oredi. just back from hosp. serdang, piss off... im really piss off:/ |

Just got info from blood bank, Blood donation drive at all the Jaya Jusco outlet from this friday 29th 08 til sunday 31st 08. Except Midvalley Jaya Jusco.

I heard people said it will be dizzy after blood donation, is that true? Is it that people can not eat before blood donation? or after? Lastly, people who are lack of hemoglobin are not allow to do blood donation, then what about people under weight? Need to get answer on behalf of people who I asking for them to do blood donation I personally can't do any blood donation due to my low blood pressure and low red blood cells |

I think the first time i passed, is that guy didnt really check on my iron level. But im so excited about that
Since there's so many times i been rejected, and there's Thalassemia history on my mum side. I'll need to get it check too. After donated, you'll need to lay on the chair about 15min before you get down. If you feel dizzy, just wait for few more minute. Then drink some milo, eat something. They provided. Take back the medicine they give(folic acid & forget the name). My first and only experience, after donated, i go play basket ball game at Jusco Equine Park. I'm so sorry for the wrong infomation. is check on IRON level.Not zinc
They'll drop the blood on the blue solution, if the blood float, you failed. So, i failed again just now. The officer give me Folic acid & Ferrous Fumarate. I'll try again on sunday |

Actually saw someone having problem after donating there in the afternoon. People carry her to the chair blood doner sat on and adjust it to leg up and head lower down. Anyway, did some reading, it is important to have a meal earlier before going but make sure it is a non-fatty meal. Means, no McD before going there |

sorry but im not sure of g6pd-anemia relationship but...
i do donate my blood out regularly wish to contribute more towards charity... and we (utar students) are planning on one charity campaign... which the events are yet to be confirmed... so if you guys have any infos or details on what should we do or who should we contact if we are intended to run a blood donation campaign, mind to share it here as well please? thank you very much~ take care |

Just donated blood at summit today...my girlfriend couldnt get a puncture at left arm so had to puncture again at the right arm...ouch....as for me i didn't want to have anaesthetic as its "less pain" but when i talked to the nurse about it she said that if i wanted to be without "bius" better make sure the person inserting the needle is good at it otherwise she/he will be poking around...

if you're under antibiotics during the event day, cannot... but if you took antibiotics last month, i'm not sure...
The website http://ducoc.tripod.com got some dos and don'ts... but the Pusat Darah Negara will be the one deciding if you are qualified to donate on that day |

Just did my first blood donation yesterday at Blood Bank.
Great experience. Service was fast and good. The nurses all very helpful and caring. Got free meal some more. Nasi Lemak, a slice of cake, a packet of biscuit, fruit, cup of Milo. Really worth it. I advise you guys to do your donation there, if possible. |

There is a website that can help blood donors. You may sign up with Life Saver Network. they send emails to everyone whenever there is a blood donation in your area. The website is www.lifesavernetwork.org then you click "join network" and fill the form. Everyone is welcome to join and if you know there is a blood donation that you would like to share to members, just email them mail@lifesavernetwork.org |

i have donated 3 times so far. but recently, i stop donating. coz, one of my friend told me that most hospital recycle their needles and there is a high chance of getting diseases.
can someone who work with the blood donation team clear me on this? i'd love to donate. i was afraid of needles and now i am not anymore. now i am only afraid of the thought of getting diseases == |

As far as my experience in donating blood (2 times only, i know), they unwrap a new one for each donor and will dispose it once the blood transfer is done. Dear Donors,
My friend's father is seriously in need of blood. His condition is so crucial that his blood platelet count was only 9!!! where normal count should be 200. My friend is desperately looking for donors in Kuala Lumpur. Please help to save her father. Thank you for supporting us yesterday! It was a great experience for us, to organise a blood donation drive for the first time, and also to donate blood for the first time!
We've learnt many things from the experienced donors, there're certainly alot of things that we can improve in the future. So, if nth goes wrong, we'll see you again in another half yr time! From what i have understand donate platelet need to continuously donate every 2 week. Please do not forget to spare your time if u really wan to donate platelet.

Is there a choice for people like me who can't physically donate more than 250ml? Normal blood donation is about 500ml. I have tried 350 before and I almost fainted. Thanks. |

Maybe u're not suitable to donate? |

Because of this every time I have to purposely taking annual leave to do blood donation due to they only open at office hour which is very inconvenience. I am not sure if we blood donor have the rights to get an off day with MC?? |

Hi all, have a question to ask.
Yesterday my church had a blood donation drive. I have donated in 2009 before and thought it was time to do it again after missing so many events. However, after i have done the filling up of questionaires, i was told that i was refused due to the fact that i domiciled in the United Kingdom (european continent) for more than 6 months (went there to study in 2010 till 2011). I asked if this was a temporary refusal but they replied that I will be unable to donate forever due to this guidelines. the questionaire did contain this part:- "have you domiciled in the UK or any of the European Countries for more than 6 months from 1980 till present" Of course naturally i ticked "Yes" I just sent a query to Pusat Darah Negara and am waiting for their reply. In the meantime can anybody shed any light on this? also If i have gotten a tattoo, how long will i be unable to donate? assuming that equiipments used were sterile and one time use only. thank you for the kind replies in advance! |

Also anyone who wants to donate blood can go to Mid Valley Mega Mall daily from 10 am - 9 PM got Pusat Darah Negara Donation Suite at level 3 Food Court Area. One floor above it.

Hi,im looking for blood donation centre or hospital in pj or puchong. i use to donate blood at assunta hospital but start this year receive letter from assunta not accepting blood donors since oct2017..PDN is too far for me in kl

Personally never heard about the bloods being sold part but I know for a fact Government Hospitals carry out blood donation drives very often due to critical blood stocks (they're pretty much critical all the time so no one will stop you from donating blood as long as you meet the requirements). all blood donate must go thru agency which link to Blood Bank.. and Blood Bank will sell to hospital.. Blood Donation Drives are usually done by the Pathology Dept / Blood Bank Dept of the respective hospitals so the best thing to do would be to approach the departments I mentioned in the respective hospitals you plan to donate blood to get latest & accurate information.
