Hi, you seem to know a lot about this website. Would you please help me with these questions?

My preferential donation spot is between bangsar and subang where i commute very often throughout the week.

Title:
Holiday Villa Subang Blood Donation Campaign

25.07.2009  09:00AM - 04:00PM
Where:
Holiday Villa Subang - Subang Jaya
Category:
Blood Drive

1)What is the difference between donating via SJMC and this drive? Holiday Villa is on the same Street as SJMC. That website did not specify what this donation is for (Not that i want to be sarcastic, but it seems like the Hotel needs the blood instead of a medical institution from the misleading description). I like the idea of having a website which reveals its blood drive location and time but i think people might want to know where it goes (which hospital, etc)

2)Secondly, when it comes to blood donation, it is simple and quick but there are a certain risk for those who do not follow a proper procedure. We are poking a foreign object(syringe) into our body ( I assume these drives are equally equipped with qualified nurses/doctors/medical staffs to conduct such procedure. However, similar to question 1, shouldn't the hospital be a safer place to donate?

3)Lastly, i have not done any blood work/test in 2 years. I am pretty sure my test results then is void. Will a blood test be necessary before any blood donation (Test this week, come back next week?). Since this is a one day blood drive, that wouldn't be possible?

**I was planning to dropby SJMC this weekend but i came across this website and i got intrigue. Noble effort but unsure on a few questions. Obviously from question 3, i have never donated any yet. But still young, still a lot of chance to donate tongue.gif

All the blood donation activities listed in lifesavernetwork.org are conducted by local hospital or national blood bank. Most of the blood donation campaigns you seen in the public are usually organized by charity organizations, clubs, religion groups, etc. But all the blood screening, blood pressure test, poking needles smile.gif are all done by medical staffs from hospital. I'm not sure if you tried any blood donation before. All the medical staffs are very well trained. You don't have to do any blood test yourself before any blood donation. you just need to be

Healthy and not suffering from a cold, flu or other illness at the time of donation.
Aged between 16-70 years (in some states 16 & 17 year olds require parental/guardian consent).
Weigh more than 45kg
Have eaten a meal and had 3-4 glasses of water/juice prior to giving blood.
Not consume any alcohol and have a good sleep the night before blood donation.
