Just did my first blood donation yesterday at Blood Bank.
Great experience. Service was fast and good. The nurses all very helpful and caring. Got free meal some more. Nasi Lemak, a slice of cake, a packet of biscuit, fruit, cup of Milo. Really worth it. I advise you guys to do your donation there, if possible. |

QUOTE(sf51177 @ Jul 18 2009, 08:09 PM) If you know there is a blood donation in your area, you can email to mail@lifesavernetwork.org Hi, you seem to know a lot about this website. Would you please help me with these questions?we will share your information with our members. if you want to join us. you may go to www.lifesavernetwork.org and "join network". My preferential donation spot is between bangsar and subang where i commute very often throughout the week. QUOTE Title: Holiday Villa Subang Blood Donation Campaign When: 25.07.2009 09:00AM - 04:00PM Where: Holiday Villa Subang - Subang Jaya Category: Blood Drive 1)What is the difference between donating via SJMC and this drive? Holiday Villa is on the same Street as SJMC. That website did not specify what this donation is for (Not that i want to be sarcastic, but it seems like the Hotel needs the blood instead of a medical institution from the misleading description). I like the idea of having a website which reveals its blood drive location and time but i think people might want to know where it goes (which hospital, etc) 2)Secondly, when it comes to blood donation, it is simple and quick but there are a certain risk for those who do not follow a proper procedure. We are poking a foreign object(syringe) into our body ( I assume these drives are equally equipped with qualified nurses/doctors/medical staffs to conduct such procedure. However, similar to question 1, shouldn't the hospital be a safer place to donate? 3)Lastly, i have not done any blood work/test in 2 years. I am pretty sure my test results then is void. Will a blood test be necessary before any blood donation (Test this week, come back next week?). Since this is a one day blood drive, that wouldn't be possible? **I was planning to dropby SJMC this weekend but i came across this website and i got intrigue. Noble effort but unsure on a few questions. Obviously from question 3, i have never donated any yet. But still young, still a lot of chance to donate |

Ha? your friend think that hospitals are like druggie recycling needles? As far as my experience in donating blood (2 times only, i know), they unwrap a new one for each donor and will dispose it once the blood transfer is done. People who will get high chances of disease is the patient who get the blood that was donated by irresponsible donor i.e. HIV, AIDS etc. can someone who work with the blood donation team clear me on this? i'd love to donate. i was afraid of needles and now i am not anymore. now i am only afraid of the thought of getting diseases == Don't listen to people who don't know what they are talking about. Just remember, you are donating because it gives you pleasure and your blood could save another person life. |
