Hi everyone, I have a question regarding second router.

I've moved to a new home and relocated my unifi. The house is 2 storey and the wifi coverage upstairs is bad. My phone is disconnected from wifi (2.4hz) most of the time.

My budget is cheapest as possible since i only need the internet for social media browsing. I am thinking to buy a secondhand router (Fiberhome AX1800, similar like current router) for upstairs since the connection point is provided by the developer.

Is this method valid? since i saw some postings on Carousell saying that the fiberhome cannot be as second router.

I have experimented with v2.02, v2.03, & v2.06 and have discovered that only 2.4GHz can achieve less than 150Mbps, but v2.06 5GHz can achieve 1Gbps on my iPhone 16PM. I am confused as to why the download speed of 2.4GHz is slow.

Anyone can share information to configure SR1041F router A connect to router B via LAN, to make the mesh connection stable? both with mesh on. or just like some router just plug Router A LAN to Router B WAN Port?

yup2, that what im doing now,

like what you say, there must be other problem regarding dlink bridge mode, if we not report it, i dont think TM gonna fix it

it not just about that extra 100Mbps, since all of my machine only have 1Gbps port, it just to make TM aware of the issue so they can fix it

what if this old onu suddenly die, terpaksa juga use that dlink combo lol

Since TM use VRRP + VXLAN to handle Load Balance PPPoE-AC, it added overhead cause PPPoE MTU fail to nego at 1492, hell even RFC4638 make PPPoE 1500 MTU didn't work...

TIME also use VRRP + VXLAN, facing same issue:

Looking back before Unifi using VRRP, I can use PPPoE MTU 1500 bytes with PON Stick (PON MTU 2000)

My friend live in JB that still on dedicated BRAS, no stupid VRRP, enjoying PPPoE at 1500bytes MTU:

tldr, anyone on VRRP, will adjusts its MTU to 1480 in disappointment.

VRRP and VXLAN add another overhead, ISP didn't consider this...

I even make a report to MCMC about this, Huawei Vendor says to MCMC this is normal

yup2, that is my current issue, using old onu everything ok, use dlink black the result as you see 

mikrotik default to 1480 even you set it at 1492, highest i can set is 1488

same result with Xiaomi Mi Router AX1800 (using openwrt), fiberhome SR1041F, SR120-A and same dllink black model ( i have 2 )

1 from free plan upgrade and 1 from converting plan to swu

the only 1 i get get full speed is when pair with old zte onu

but using dlink black itself connecting to pc can get full speed
