is it worth jumping ship from unifi to time? recently time come install their fiber at my apartment. Am now paying SWU rm200 for unifi 1gbps and see time offer 600mbps first 6 month rm99 and rm139 7 month onwards.

my bro and his wife will move out soon to their new house nov this year and my contract will also finish around at the same month. or is any of the upcoming swu will be cheaper? thinking of downgrading too since am no longer have time to gaming so no need faster speed to download huge files. also would like to know if time will be more stable during the night (7pm - 1am), unifi can throttle quite heavily and even youtube become very slow during night at my area.

Some comparison reviews here for unifi vs time.

For gaming yes dl matters for downloading game r.g. battlenet, steam because not always people buy physical discs, it's all on the dev game platform to download. Or like game patches.

But more often latency is the most often felt feature. So fiber broadband and good routing helps for this for low latency gaming.

So based on that, I went with cheapest, for me was 100 Mbps unifi. When I compare to faster download speeds, just mean have to wait longer for download to complete. But for latency this has no issue. So that's how I should look at it as a gamer.

just asking,
are you all having slow downloading from steam and epic lately?
barely 200Mbps ,
steam downloading at 200KBps , epic 100Mbps,
speed test all looks normal?
using 1Gbps /512Mbps

are u by chance using wifi?

because unless ur wifi (wifi 6e or 7 with 1 Gbps or better throughput over wifi) is good, i wouldnt be surprised if u not get the full 1Gbps dl speed.

If u r using wired this is less likely to be the issue, and probably something else.

https://dongknows.com/wi-fi-range-expectations-vs-reality/

if ur using wifi, check the reviews what thoroughput u can expect from it. also try test using wired see if ur broadband improve. use a speed test website to check ur speed.

if ur testing wifi only, use a self hosted app like speedtest to see if wifi is ur issue.

for myself i am only using 100 mbps /50 mbps. already tested no issue. but the higher u go, the more bottlenecks u run across. its figuring which it is. ur wifi? the isp? bad ethernet cables? or something else.

don't know which i did, either the port reset, or router reset fixed it, though to get full dl speed i need to give steam high priority for it to use all cores to get it, if not its only using my E-cores  which limit dl to around 400+ Mbps.

oh and i dont use Wifi

i found this for u. related?

QUOTE
Then your issue is very normal and its not related to the newest steam update or windows.

the faster your speed the more of your cpu is used (iirc capped at 4 threads) and steam requests that these threads be given "low priority" so it doesn't affect your other stuff.

But due to the architecture, low priority means E-Cores and Intel Thread Director is what handles this.

A solution would be to change affinity in task manager to make steam download via the p-cores or cap your speed in steam as to not hit the 100% usage on cores (leaving more to windows)

I have the same setup at the same speed but I dont have this issue of stutters or a slideshow as you are saying.

its a 2 year old post though, but it describes what you mentioned hmm.gif

Hi. Yes I sort of found a workaround. If and when I need to update or download games, I just disable the e-cores through task manager. To do this, you navigate to Steam.exe in the Details tab, right click, set affinity, and uncheck the last 4 cores.

I also made a steam exe that disables e-cores by default on steam boot by setting some target flags. I’m not home to look up what it is right now. However do note that disabling e-cores in this way may prevent some games from launching - I’ve only had issues with Armored Core VI and Elden Ring. Reenabling the e-cores fixes the issue.

Also do note that the games that are launched through steam take the properties of the Steam.exe affinity. Which is why it affected AC6 and Elden Ring.

At least with this method, you don’t have to mess with the Bios and/or use a 3rd party software.
hmm.gif

my own solution, dont use intel cpu. my recent cpu purchases were all amd ryzen. less problems than intel sweat.gif

wow to many demand offer 500Mbps RM90
if too many unifi 500Mbps RM90 subscription
tm willl chance to set Private IP i just guesses  rclxub.gif

because 100Mbps and 300Mbps a lot people subscription that why getting Private IP

mine is SWU 3.0 500Mbps RM119 i will not try method terminate UNIFI online if tm call me offer me 500Mbps RM90
its too risk due Private IP not suitable for me

that why i waiting 1GBPS or 2GBPS Offer
i am very imported Public IP address only
i will never never downgrade
*
500 Mbps for rm90, how long pay rm90? is it limited time then it will revert back to normal price? hmm.gif

also only for those users whos 2 year contract expire already is it?

also i'm wondering, for 1GBPS or 2GBPS is your wifi good enough to hit those speeds? If wired then is non issue. But the 2 GBPS you would need a multi gig setup. Did you prep your networking equipment to handle those speeds basically? (router, switch, desktop/laptop, wifi ap)

haha, it's okay.

have MLO working, but my laptop WiFi 7 refuse to use 5GHz and 6GHz, instead 2.4GHz and 6GHz

I used 2.4 and 5ghz for my guest network.

For my understanding only 2 can be selected atm. 3 wont work afaik.

tested with s24 ultra and tplink eap-773

to confirm it works, used wifiman and there it will say that the connection is mlo. You can also see u are connect to both 2.4 and 5ghz

others also noted this

QUOTE
I've been testing MLO on my BE96U for a bit now, and so far it's OK.. Hard to definitively say since I only have 1 MLO device right now (Pixel 8 Pro), and it's kinda nerfed as it can only connect to 2 bands on MLO, not all 3.

https://www.snbforums.com/threads/mlo-perfo...itations.90680/

i also at some point where 5ghz was not working but i did not realize at the time. i fixed it (tested working), but i forgot what i did. I think it may have had to do with selecting the bands max 2 while mlo was enabled.

so i got 2 ssid's.

1 for private wifi (2.4 + 6ghz mlo), other for guest network and iots (2.4 + 5ghz)

i think when i tried to do 2.4 + 5+ 6 (select all 3 for a single ssid with mlo enabled), this didn't work as 5ghz no longer worked if i did that when mlo enabled if not mistaken.

i have no idea when and if its possible for all 3 of these to be enabled when using mlo later on hmm.gif

have you try 5ghz + 6ghz mlo ????

notice in the first screenshot is says mlo enabled. also u can see both 5 and 6ghz are shown here meaning it's connected to those 2 bands simultaneously using mlo.

i just double checked, seems i got 2.4 / 5 /6 ticked with mlo enabled for one of the ssid.

when check on wifiman, ONLY 5 and 6ghz is connected simultaneously using mlo. NOT 2.4

So i think if u had an issue similar to mine last time, i think u would need to only select 2 not 3 of these wifi bands. Because last time at some point, 5ghz was not working and i didn't notice when this happened.

not using rssi. ofmda not enabled for 2.4 cause i think there was some conflict for some old iot device. but only for 2.4 as 5 and 6 had ofmda enabled.

band steering not enabled.

my guest only has 2.4 and 5ghz band enabled only. my iot devices non support 6ghz anyway sweat.gif

in pfsense i also have avahi setup, so i can talk to iot on the 2.4 on a separate vlan (to on/off iot light). didnt work on reolink doorbell cam for some reason, so i have to directly move to the guest wifi to be able to access reolink sweat.gif

for anyone interested to know what wifi7 does for them (note: both client need wifi7 support otherwise u probably wont benefit from these improvements)

reason i assumed i had set it to 5/6 only, not all 3 band, was because of a issue i had previously where 5ghz was not working.

one of my solutions at the time was only using 2 bands. so ssid 1, used 5/6, and ssid 2, used 2.5/5

but here, seems my ssid 1, uses 2.4/5/6. but EVEN THEN, u can see that mlo is only connecting to 5/6.

so mlo is confirmed only work for 2 bands, not 3.

anyway i might have later enabled all 3 bands with mlo enabled in setting at some point, but since it more or less works, i'll leave it as is sweat.gif

new tmnut install this year. i think my box is skyworth. has working ipv6 but i use cloudflare dns NOT the isp dns

tested here
https://test-ipv6.com

i use pfsense for router so had to do the settings for it which is not so simple for pfsense, but there is a guide on this forum about how to do it smile.gif (if u use something like an asus off the shelf router, its far simpler since they got a setting for unifi that fills all the details to get ipv6 working straight away)

disk usage is nearly full at 97%

i always prefer brand Ecoflow then bluetti  why i don't know hehehe
delta 3 Pro amazing setup Delta 3 pro + x2 extra battery wow daam expensive but can run BTU+ROUTER+PC DESKTOP+MONITOR like that
i think possible can last 12hours backup or 24hhours backup depend load power
so no need APC

have you try you own Ecoflow river 3 UPS Mode if you switch off Power wall socket switch battery 0MS real ???
have you check you BTU + ROUTER stay on ??? because need 0MS
how about PC Desktop ?? if delay 20MS will PC off and Router + btu off look like reboot due power loss during switch battery
*
for your setup, would that work for solar from balcony?

and how much for that setup?

how do you setup the MCB to add this to your power grid to hook up the BTU router etc?

Is that enough power for truenas server and a gaming desktop pc? 24/7 ?

If the power in the battery run out, can it seamlessly switch back to using the main power?

More interested to use for powering off solar, rather than as a backup. Maybe when i was in Sabah may have needed many years ago (lots of power cuts). But more interested in directly powering devices direct off solar hmm.gif

was wondering why internet not working.

but when i enable mullvad vpn it worked fine. probably because for dns i use the mullvad dns rather than cloudflare. then found this news as to why sweat.gif

hmm.gif

for me i had a fallback which i could easily toggle. but others? they'd have to go into their routers, chance the dns to google (if they were using cloudflare dns) to get working internet.

alternative dns? quad9 maybe? not sure what else sweat.gif
