People signing up for more than one PON service on one address will not get what they think they paid for.
It is just the reality of how PON works.
That's my initial thought how do you wire up your place from 2 tiang. haha
*
That's what I been told the client,
well, as declining 2Gbps users, plan on upgrading XGSPON is far far away.

I need think another way for this issue

Any news on the upgrade? Heard they were testing it on live network since like last year?
*
nah, TM scrap upgrading to 10G/XGS-PON
they said, Unifi Ultra decline since 2023, somehow 2Gbps customer suddenly use 100Mbps, TM see this as Malaysia no potential for higher speed, so, no point upgrading new infra,

However, I did not discount your saying that more people signing up for 500Mbps at RM90 affect speed. That one is at OLT port level due to TM's specific method to offer Unifi Ultra without investing in a single cent.
I think I just explain that in a follow up post.
But this specific problem ain't due to it.
*
Thing is, TM has planned to upgrade to 10G/XGSPON.
TM following other ISP, roll out 2Gbps plan on GPON, once enough subscribers, OLT PON Card will upgraded.

My team in Italy did this during PON Stick research, many people subscribed 2Gbps, within a year 2Gbps subscriber has reached and their ISP start upgrading and now using XGSPON.

GPON never designed to support over 1Gbps, ME 5 and 6 specifically query ONT ANI just 2488/1244 and UNI just 1GbE

However, updated GPON Standard as per CTC request, the ANI now supporting 2488/2488 symmetrical and UNI supporting 2.5GbE, this to assist ISP capital moving next PON Standard.

Only problem in Malaysia is, TM employees told me the 2Gbps customer are in declining, shrinking... Even Government tried to support TM by giving school 2Gbps Unifi, still not enough...

there is one dude selling WiFi AP actively downgrading customer Unifi plan back to 100Mbps, this what I mad, instead solving WiFi, downgrading to 100Mbps

This very reason Malaysia going backwards when my team heard of, shame...

my client waiting XGSPON instead of using 10x Unifi, he planned to close Malaysia branch.

welp, going backwards

At 3AM, my VLAN was gone, use any ONU I have wont fix,

At 3PM, I ask my friend who work at TM, he quickly reset OMCI VLAN to default and activate my PON Stick using my own OMCI:

before LAN 2/3/4 was disabled, nowadays these LAN port enabled, Huawei OLT no longer giving ME171, just ME84 just like TIME (because of combo ONU)

I was told that the average bandwidth utilized by 1Gbps users is pretty much the same as the 300Mbps users. Most users aren't using much bandwidth at all.

If you ignore equipment cost, the cost to supply service to 300Mbps and 1Gbps users are pretty much the same.

The only reason why they do not sell 1Gbps at 300Mbps price is due to pricing policy so they can upsell the higher ARPU (average revenue per user) plan.

Unless TM is losing a lot of users to 5G (like what happen in Thailand) or government pressure, they won't lower the price as this formula is working for them. laugh.gif

what Unifi Regional person told me, like that of estimation

my client subscribe 20 Unifi 2G, now running 8 fiber, when PCC, only ~250Mbps aggregate among 8 pppoe unifi,
they noticed this, plan to add XGSPON on his area,
thing is, XGSPON already deploy at KESAS Corridor to upstate, most factory there run XGSPON but not active yet
thus, XGSPON for my client, still in progress,

also, he told me, more customer on Ultra plan, TM can more offer and cheaper price on lower plan, like SWU

I guess, less high paying customer, far away to have even cheaper internet

Actually how they calculate the price?
1gig to 2gig = RM 20 diff
2gig to 5gig = RM 100 diff
5gig to 10gig = RM70 diff

We all know that nobody will ever get 10G on XGSPON. 8.5G is the max.
So how come a 3gig jump from 2G to 5G cost a RM100 premium?
But the slightly more 3.5gig jump from 5G to 8.5G only cost RM70.

If you say you get more discount when you buy more, then the 1G to 2G jump is still cheaper per gig.
*
This just estimation based on past pricing, if want cheap 10G like Singapore, seem like this,
either 10GE or XGS-PON, what I know XGS real world just around 8.6G,

unless TM skip XGSPON to 50GE like they test with ZTE before

Anime4000, any information from insider regarding this ? Are they testing out something ? Kindly advise if you have any information on it  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

What I know, TM currently having trial run on 10G technology, when I ask further questions either 10GE or XGS (8.5G) they didn't tell

but, they do test 10G PON now,
Kesas Corridor to up north already 10G PON Card, they said, if anyone stay on KESAS, have OTDR, please verify? 1570nm exist?

no problem,

TM roll out 2Gbps plan is something, despite it use almost full GPON link, but this stepping stone for greater speed and cheaper internet plan.

with CTC Standard Extension on top of ITU-T one, this allow ISP give 2G service despite ME 5 & 6 still say GbE, kind a hack, but other country do the same

2.5GbE PHY chipset still expensive back then, Realtek and MaxLiner making it cheaper, thus 1+1 no longer exist

the 1+1 only way to offer, not just Malaysia, many countries do the same, even ISP in Japan.

l hope 10G plan will exist soon, ISP just need replace the PON Card and we have cheaper internet

so, anyone has expired contract, come get SWU 5.0 or latest, let ISP over-saturated the GPON then ISP can ask investor for infra upgrade funds

I see, but saw some ppl on fb saying the new modem+router from unifi can support 2gbps rather than splitting 1x2

when two 2Gbps customer share same fiber root, it will share the bandwidth with other 2G customer

this is now PON works, Best Effort scheme, cheaper, different than Metro-E, which fiber alone is yours!

IPoE?

It uses MAC or GPON SN for authentication?
*
Just DHCP like Allo, and lease is 1 minute.
What I tried, one IP Address per ONU ID.
If put a switch, trying to get two IP, only one device will have and another will keep searching...
Thus, one ONU ID only given /32 IP Address

This even work with CGNAT, just like Allo
user posted image

Thing is, for 10Gbps plan to work reliable, Unifi need to drop PPPoE

for this area, the OMCI DHCP Server IP Address set to 203.0.113.1, I didn't find this address infomation

Try and didn't work in my place. Is this area specific?
The 1 minute DHCP hack is ugly. They need to simulate PPPoE so stuff like their EasyFix continue working.
The problem is DHCP timeout don't work like LCP Echo.
They could use BFD but I think home device don't support it.
Mikrotik do support BFD, did it work if you enable it?

Your Mikrotik support L3HW? Should be able to get wirespeed without PPPoE.

this is still trial and testing, and I use RB5009

what been told, plan 1G and above

Is this test being done using GPON or full XGSPON setup?
Know what gear they will be giving?

still on GPON for saga corridor, kesas corridor already on xgspon, mainly big factory
