Saw this article about Alienware Aurora with a nVidia 5080 for USD2400 IGN Link.

On Malaysia Alienware site it cost RM18k ... any idea if this deal will make it to Malaysia ? If not, what other reputable pre-built is recommended in Malaysia ? ROG, HP Omen, Legion ?

Prefer pre-built over shop built for warranty reasons. I live in a ulu area, so getting the parts shipped here cost as much as buying a pre-built anyway, and with warranty it covers return shipping.

If you need a prebuilt, you should consider local system integrators as they use standardized parts instead of proprietary parts that Dell uses in this machine icon_idea.gif
HP Omens/Lenovo Legion PCs are also a good choice too, as they are effectively ATX/mATX tower PCs with some OEM customized parts icon_idea.gif
A little warning: certain Legion Tower PCs use BGA (soldered laptop) CPUs, like this one:

Alienware isnt the hotbox it was before but its still littered with proprietary BS parts like PSU, mobo, case. If your getting a Dell, add on extended warranty package that covers PSU as this is most likely to die amongst these 3 items.

For warranty service/RMA, I still trust Dell over the other 3 brands.

Local SI may not have as reliable warranty service/RMA for those in ulu places (where OP is at). Mostly you ship back at your own cost.

but separate parts (PSU, Graphic Card , Motherboard etc) are nearly the same price as US ? In this case, it's just Alienware offering a good deal on a 5080 build so wondering if any Alienware/Dell resellers here are able to give a similar price

for local builders (illegear, racuntech, pcimage, tmt ...) basically no warranty unless one is in their coverage area which I'm not. So far Dell and Lenovo have sent their service team for warranty claim so have more confidence despite the price mark up. Even with 1 claim (moniter, laptop etc) it makes up for it especially 1 to 1 replacement.

My last Alienware was 2016 R3 laptop , still running fine and managed to change battery, RAM, SSD. But thanks for the heads up on PSU.

Perhaps a HP Omen tower might be a better fit for you - it is effectively a regular (m)ATX tower PC with some OEM flavored parts icon_idea.gif

Disclaimer: I work for a company that handles HP(E) and Lenovo equipment icon_idea.gif

HP Warranty service imho have been hit & miss. This from my bro RMA for his expensive Envy laptop (it had all the bells & whistles options then). If an expensive lappie can get shafted, whatmore a desktop unit?

Yes, but what happens if warranty expires? Note that desktop machines can last for a long time, and any proprietary parts will severely limit its upgrade and repair capabilities icon_idea.gif
Relying on warranty solely isn't exactly a good thing IMHO icon_idea.gif

For Dell you can extend warranty up to 5 years which is reasonable for PC hardware usage lifespan. By then your ady want to do extensive upgrades anyways (CPU & mobo, GPU)

I still wont buy a Dell desktop due to its proprietary BS
