Wth his age, judge will unlikely impose jail term. Plus a slap is not a crime heavy enough to warrant prison time. Judge also would take into account public sentiment and response should a heavy handed  punishment is imposed which for this case is a very touchy subject

I foresee that the punishment, if meted, would be nothing more than a light slap on the wrist. One to show that justice is seen to be performed, but at the same time to placate a certain section of community that they're not ditindas by the government/dap/kafirs.

IF i'm the judge - jail 1 week or fine RM10k.

but minimum should have some sort punishment that anyone would think twice before simply² go ask ppl for IC & then slapping the person.

Even helang's bodyguard punched the OKU with strong evidence still only get fined for 2K, doubtful he would get jail time.

Wonder any crowd funding for "Tabung Jihad Tampar" or not?

Problem is, a judge cannot impose punishment exceeding what was already prescribed in the law. The most they can impose is the max of what was prescribed.

Also doesn't mean you impose it would be the end of it. Ppl can still appeal. From magistrate to session, from session to high, and from high to federal/appeals. No doubt this one won't go that high level but it means that your decision as judge can be overturned and amended. So in the end it's just a circus of wayang.

Slapping incident: Tiang says man should not be allowed to get off lightly
Amyra Varkisa
20 March 2025

SIBU: The authorities should not simply brush the slapping incident in Johor aside but should instead conduct a thorough and fair investigation based on facts.

Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government of Sarawak Datuk Michael Tiang said it will not only prevent similar incidents from recurring but also serve as a social warning.

“Athough this incident may have been an isolated case, it had nonetheless caused public concern,” he said in a statement today.

The Pelawan assemblyman also stressed that such an outrageous act should not have occurred, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, as it provokes racial and religious sensitivities.

“Regardless of whether the Muslim man in question was mentally stable, it was not appropriate for him to demand someone’s identification in public and even go as far as slapping another person.

“This is a violation of privacy and a show of disrespect toward others. Such behaviour is neither acceptable nor tolerated in a civilised society.

“The authorities should impose appropriate penalties to serve as a lesson for the public, fostering mutual respect among all ethnic groups,” he said.

Tiang said that racial and religious extremism incidents are more commonly seen in Malaya.

In contrast, Sarawak has always been regarded as a model of harmony, where over 30 ethnic groups coexist peacefully, never experiencing conflict due to religious, racial, cultural, or linguistic differences.

This unique trait is a source of pride for Sarawakians.

“The Federal Constitution guarantees freedom of belief and religion for all ethnic groups, and this is undeniable.

“We should not discriminate against others in the name of religion or race. Before respecting others, one must first learn to respect oneself.

“In recent years, racial and religious extremism has been on the rise. We hope that the government will take the most severe actions against such individuals and not allow them to disrupt national harmony,” he said.

pusing lagi. the issue with you was that you expect someone else to do some else's job.

now you go for DNAA. So slowpoke la you. DNAA in the morning then later in the evening kena charge lagi. They say technical reason.

QUOTE
He was earlier charged with committing the offence at 3.45pm on March 16 at the Johor Bahru shopping mall.

However, before a trial date could be set, the prosecution requested a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA), saying they were ordered to refer the case to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC).

The AGC later said the accused was given a DNAA as a technical issue had arisen with the initial charge, adding that this had been resolved.

after that he kena proper charges already.

QUOTE
Abdul Razak Ismail, 65, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read out before magistrate A Shaarmini today, Harian Metro reported.

Razak was charged with voluntarily causing hurt to the victim, 21-year-old Elijah Ling, at a shopping mall in Johor Bahru at 6.15pm on March 16.

why DNAA earlier, i guess wrong offense time during the 1st charge.

There you go. read and be smarter ok. no need to feel so tertindas until sewel. right now you borderline sewel already.

this case actually has nothing to do with racing

it's about an individual who think he is above the law and can go around asking ppl for their IC and slapping ppl

even if the victim was a Malay who was not fasting, the old man should still be charged and go to jail

even police are not allowed to hit ppl unless in self defence

example need to be set for rule of law

sini too many puak tertindas. just because the perp and victim different races, terus racing.

pusing lagi. semua kau nak komplen.

menteri agama talk about it you complaint why dont take action.

DNAA sekejap to amend charges, you complaint thinking its terus DNAA became precedent. (by the way law precedent wasn't from DNAA)

1 month later trial you complaint again. Trial can only be quick if perp plead guilty. Otherwise one month is a decent wait time.

you cannot be less sewel can or not?
