Non-Muslim man slapped: Johor cops to submit probe papers soon

Johor police will submit the investigation papers on a senior citizen accused of slapping a non-Muslim man who was eating at a convenience store during daytime during Ramadan to the Attorney-General’s Chambers before this Friday.

Berita Harian quoted Johor police chief M Kumar as saying that the 65-year-old suspect was summoned yesterday to have his statement recorded.

Wth his age, judge will unlikely impose jail term. Plus a slap is not a crime heavy enough to warrant prison time. Judge also would take into account public sentiment and response should a heavy handed  punishment is imposed which for this case is a very touchy subject

I foresee that the punishment, if meted, would be nothing more than a light slap on the wrist. One to show that justice is seen to be performed, but at the same time to placate a certain section of community that they're not ditindas by the government/dap/kafirs.
