So you guys are suggesting new buyers don't pull trigger with this sime bullshit. Wait for byd to sell independently and wait for God's eye (whatever this is) to come to new models?

Base on ktard advice, you need to run far far from EV.
It will burn easily in any accident and trap you inside. Even if it does not, the battery will 100% fail 1 day after warranty ends and you need budget to replace it.

The EV CBU exemption is only until end of this year. BYD is not planning to do CKD here and it is unknown whether the government will extend the exemption (they should IMO but we never know what the govt will do).
If you wanna get the Seal or Atto 3, the current deal is decent. If you want the Sealion 7, wait till later in the year.

BYD will likely close shop if there is no extension for the tax exemption, who in their right mind will even want to take over from Sime to run the business for less than a year?

Makes sense for the EV version to be more expensive if the playing field is level for both EV and ICE, but in Malaysia ICE got handicap with Import duty and Excise duty, so the EV version possible to be cheaper or same price. Chery will not save money on doing CKD for small volume in Malaysia so you are probably right that the price will still be around or slightly more than the ICE version.

Chery/Jaecoo already set up manufacturing plant in Shah Alam, so if CBU tax exemption ends this year, then only it can compete with P1 & P2. All the rest cant compete n will close shop. What is going to happen to service & maintenance?

Usually, the distributor will still maintain some outlets to service and also stock some parts, but support will not be great for sure. EVs don't need much maintenance so it is quite possible that most outlets cannot survive. But I think BYD will still survive because they have a lot of leeway in pricing their cars so can probably still compete even with taxes. Chery should also do well if their pricing is good. The rest will probably need to bring down their prices quick or keep being a niche product with low sales. You can already see how Bermax is treating Xpeng with only a few outlets, they are not risking it.

Most likely CBU EV tax exemption will end by this year, CKD EV tax exemption might give extension based on the past government automotive policy and direction.

BYD still refuse to commit CKD factory here, most likely they will utilize fully the factory in Thailand baru decide later on. Whereby Proton already commit CKD factory here.

Based on ktard you shouldn't buy any cars at all.

Buy conti, masuk workshop daily.

Buy china, cheap material axle break u die.

Buy jap, tin kosong pay premium to UMW.

Buy local, low class won't get amoi.

Buy ev, confirm burn down and battery die after 5mins.

Buy petrol old tech petrol expensive.
