Hi, considering a full sized SUV. Which one would you choose, the C10 BEV at around rm144k or the J7 PHEV at around 159k?

I already have a BEV and frankly, love it. (it's a Seal premium), Of course the C10 range cannot compare but it's still liveable with.

I was already putting aside the C10 and leaning toward the J7 Phev until yesterday when I was driving the Seal sedately when a green C10 came screaming from behind, of course I gave way and it looked bloody good!

As far as distributorship is concerned both are reasonably OK, one Stellantis and the other quite long here.

Anyone here already has the C10, care to comment. Of course the J7 phev is just out maybe next week will have some registrations but most of the regular petrol J7 owners I have talked to are pretty happy with their cars, of course the petrol version is even cheaper than the c10 at around 139k.

Already saw the Sealion 7 seems overpriced and I don't want another Seal look-alike just now.

both different segment right? C10 is D-segment, J7 is C-segment and it's quite small compare to others of this segment.

Do you travel far? Do consider as one is BEV and another one is PHEV, since you already have BEV why not Jaecoo?

My take is if you can survive with BEV and know that you will not need the range go for C10, pretty impressive tech or xPeng G6 also can consider.

The C10 especially the green one looks damn cool. I would have bought it if it was priced a bit cheaper. The C10 is huge and being a BEV it will be a lot cheaper to maintain. It seems now can get some discounts for 2024 cars, you might want to give them a call to find out.

PHEV basically need to maintain an ICE vehicle and still deal with EV components, I would avoid all types of hybrids. Additionally, Chery does seem to have issues with QC so this is a minus point. Stellantis seems to be doing a good job with their brands now compared to how Bermax and Nasim handled it previously, so personally I would be more confident with them rather than Chery/Jaecoo.

Did you consider the e.Mas 7? Cheaper than C10 with better battery tech but doesn't look as good as the C10.

I saw them both in person today regardless of the D/C labels, these 2 cars are about the same size, at least in my eyes though I will admit the c10 has a more bulbous look. the J7 is quite an imposing vehicle.

On a daily basis work/home hardly a few kms. On a twice weekly basis, to Port Dickson & back, round trip 200km. Other than that, distant locations such as Penang, once in a while. Why do you say c10 has pretty impressive tech? What extra tech does the c10 have that the j7 phev does not? I believe all present day BEVs and PHEVs have almost the same tech. Yes I agree Xpeng goes one notch higher where tech is concerned but it's too small and a little overpriced for me.

Yes I totally agree the c10 green looks great! Exactly the point I brought up with the dealer, the stocks are, as far as I know, YOM 2024. YOM 2025 stock are probably in but they are not releasing till the 2024 stocks finish. As far as I know the RRP now is 159k and the promo is 10k off and another 5k off if chosen from the dealer's inventory (keeps changing) so as far as I am aware the deal is 14k off making the price 144k. If 129k for YOM 2024, I'd buy it in a heartbeat and would happily pay 139k for YOM 2025.

At this point my wife's preference is the J7 purely on the c10's interior being too plain & that there is no gear lever in the usual place & that the seats are not leather!

J7 PHEV also moved the gear stalk to the same place as C10 FYI, no more traditional gear lever

Since you got other rides, i would vote for the C10 as that is pure EV and bigger segment compare to J7 and also simplicity to maintain (less parts to worry as compare to hybrid)

Some guys were able to get it for around RM130k but this was for 2024 demo cars. Their sales is not so good, you should be able to negotiate with them for this price. I tried to nego with them end of last year but at that time it was still new and had the RM10k promo discount, if I got it for RM130-140k, would have bought the green one definitely. But ended up getting the e.Mas 7 coz it was much better value although it does not look as cool.

The combination of its huge size, colour choices and cool rims make it a handsome car if you can live with some of the shortcomings like slower charging, NFC card key and no AACP. But the price is not very competitive IMO, for slightly more you can get the much better Xpeng G6 and for a lot less you can get the e.Mas 7 which is better equipped but has the minus point of having to deal with Proton's less competent sales and after sales teams.

any reason why not Xpeng G6?

xpeng is one class smaller a car and the price is 5k to 25k higher

Xpeng G6 is longer, wider and has a longer wheelbase than the Leapmotor C10.

The G6 is a much better car in almost all aspects compared to the C10 but the name and looks are not for everyone. The C10 looks a lot better overall.

Actually looks are very subjective, to me the J7 is the better looker. I only had a fleeting glance at a parked G6 and I don't consider the c10 to be good looking that much except the green does add some attraction. My wife too likes the J7 for its looks but has not yet seen the g6. I suspect in my eyes the g6 will look a lot better than the c10, especially in the orange!

Oh, the J7 only looks good in black for us.

Yes, the J7 is good looking which is why the ICE version is very popular. But that is where the buck stops, the J7 is an inferior car in every way other than looks and it is a much cheaper car in reality but due to taxes it it sits in the same price bracket of the G6 and C10. The first thing you need to decide is whether you want a PHEV or a BEV. Personally, I would no longer consider a vehicle with an engine due to maintenance costs and the premium you pay due to taxes, so the J7 is out of the equation. For me the C10 looks good in all colours but looks outstanding in green. The G6 looks ok but I am willing to compromise on looks for the overall package which is excellent value for money. But yeah, looks are subjective which is why its good to have choices. I actually like the Sealion 7 even more, but BYD cars are too expensive for what they offer, if the price comes down to RM150-160k range for the premium version, then its good value.

i was in the same position as you before.

I did place booking for C10 Green color as the interior brown only for this color.

but once emas7 came out, I cancel booking and go for proton instead.

Few things I research about C10 which make me quite hesitate to proceed

a. using NFC card to enter the vehicle as well as start the car
b. it seem AACP not available for on-going model
c. Slow DC and AC charging (as someone live in high rise, DC is important)
d. Rear boot looks bigger technically smaller than emas 7 plus underfloor storage minimal compared to emas7
e. based on review, application support mcm 50:50 saja with current model

Despite superb rear space and tough looking BEV, I made my decision to switch.
