Hi, considering a full sized SUV. Which one would you choose, the C10 BEV at around rm144k or the J7 PHEV at around 159k?

I already have a BEV and frankly, love it. (it's a Seal premium), Of course the C10 range cannot compare but it's still liveable with.

I was already putting aside the C10 and leaning toward the J7 Phev until yesterday when I was driving the Seal sedately when a green C10 came screaming from behind, of course I gave way and it looked bloody good!

As far as distributorship is concerned both are reasonably OK, one Stellantis and the other quite long here.

Anyone here already has the C10, care to comment. Of course the J7 phev is just out maybe next week will have some registrations but most of the regular petrol J7 owners I have talked to are pretty happy with their cars, of course the petrol version is even cheaper than the c10 at around 139k.

Already saw the Sealion 7 seems overpriced and I don't want another Seal look-alike just now.

I saw them both in person today regardless of the D/C labels, these 2 cars are about the same size, at least in my eyes though I will admit the c10 has a more bulbous look. the J7 is quite an imposing vehicle.

On a daily basis work/home hardly a few kms. On a twice weekly basis, to Port Dickson & back, round trip 200km. Other than that, distant locations such as Penang, once in a while. Why do you say c10 has pretty impressive tech? What extra tech does the c10 have that the j7 phev does not? I believe all present day BEVs and PHEVs have almost the same tech. Yes I agree Xpeng goes one notch higher where tech is concerned but it's too small and a little overpriced for me.

Yes I totally agree the c10 green looks great! Exactly the point I brought up with the dealer, the stocks are, as far as I know, YOM 2024. YOM 2025 stock are probably in but they are not releasing till the 2024 stocks finish. As far as I know the RRP now is 159k and the promo is 10k off and another 5k off if chosen from the dealer's inventory (keeps changing) so as far as I am aware the deal is 14k off making the price 144k. If 129k for YOM 2024, I'd buy it in a heartbeat and would happily pay 139k for YOM 2025.

At this point my wife's preference is the J7 purely on the c10's interior being too plain & that there is no gear lever in the usual place & that the seats are not leather!

xpeng is one class smaller a car and the price is 5k to 25k higher

Actually looks are very subjective, to me the J7 is the better looker. I only had a fleeting glance at a parked G6 and I don't consider the c10 to be good looking that much except the green does add some attraction. My wife too likes the J7 for its looks but has not yet seen the g6. I suspect in my eyes the g6 will look a lot better than the c10, especially in the orange!

Oh, the J7 only looks good in black for us.

which variant did you go for?

I decided to go with J7 Phev. Should be getting my car delivered Wed or Thu.

I usually keep cars only 1-2 years. Then sell off. If well kept, one will lose some money, say get back 130k after 2 years so I treat that 30k loss as leasing charges for 2 years. Not bad, 2.5k per month with no expenses, all under warranty and service and no tyre expenses. May even sell sooner if the J8 Phev comes out...

Also I don't believe in spending money on wraps, protection, etc. Even tinting, if I am paying will be below 1k. I believe one is buying the car for enjoyment and the car must work and care for me not the other way around. Also, RV or resale value is of no consequence. Everything depreciates - some a little more than others. For instance I'd buy the new Peugeot 408 in a hearbeat if it were not pure ICE contrary to what people say about its RV. It's a stunner in styling and RV takes a back seat when you want to enjoy the finer things.
