haaa.... i see i see. Was thinking of avoiding Korean diesels but seems its pretty reliable.... BUT the most reliable diesel engine of all goes to BMW!  biggrin.gif

reliable is one thing.. but about the economic wise with the "premium" diesel price?

Most European diesel engine are quite reliable as they also been using diesel engine for ages, previous Peugeot 508 top range also got diesel engine and my mechanic still got 1 customer driving it until today.

Can't vouch for other makes like Peugeot, but not all diesel engines are made the same. I've been using diesel BM for the longest time and I can say it's the best diesel engine out there in terms of maintenance and fuel consumption. Mercs are not very well known for their latest diesel engines.

You'll need to face the reality that all petrol and diesel prices will go up eventually. Diesels will still give you the best bang for your buck, i.e. power and economical fc.

Why not? If not easy to get parts those rides should be in the scrap yard and not on the roads. FYI, both Hyundai & KIA use similar engine you think parts cannot find?

The latest diesel engine usually direct import is not suitable for our diesel as our diesel only until EURO 5.
Oversea already using Euro 6 and besides that need to add those so call adblue ammonia treatment which is more troublesome to maintain.
Those newer ride, not even Merc also with the adblue treatment really not so realiable (more parts to spoilt/replace) compare to previous gen.

I own a second-hand Sorento 2.2 Diesel UM, which I purchased last year. I can say that finding spare parts for it is easier than for my other car, a Subaru XV. You can easily obtain all the spare parts through platforms like Shopee or Lazada.

With the current diesel price at RM3.38 per liter, a full tank costs around RM190, allowing me to travel approximately 750 to 800 kilometers. The 2.2 turbo diesel engine provides ample power, making it easy to overtake other vehicles on the highway.

Overall, I have no regrets about choosing this car.

In the last row, I usually fold down one seat to accommodate my carrier or baby stroller.
As for the third row, it is wider than that other cars and can comfortably fit two adults who are below 170 cm in height.

Personally feedback from my mechanic, those rubber parts like engine mounting, lower arm bush dont buy cheap stuff as diesel engine vibration actually is more compare to petrol engine due to higher compression, my mechanic help fitted a lot of cheap stuff (owner request) for those Starex use for business purpose and not really can last long. Original parts in the end still last longer compare to those cheap stuff in online platforms, so better confirm with the seller and go for original parts if want to use long term.

BTW, if you want to buy Subaru parts most of us direct go for Auto Sommet KL, google the shop and ask for Dettori Chang they can arrange postal service with credit card payment. He can also offer OEM & Original parts, if really he dont have the stock, join FB XV group (close group got a lot of info on parts & seller information)

Same as any other diesel engine, if worse we will not even recommend.
For Korean & Continentals diesel engine is always the more better choice in term of reliability/durability compare to their petrol engine.

Hi guys...

just to keep my introduction simple, need you advice what to choose

my needs
- 7 seater
- 2016 and above (loan reason)
- do a lot of long distance so need comfort car
- budget up to rm70k +-
- prefer suv over mpv
- prefer 2.4cc and below

my current choices are
- kia sorento 2.2
- peugeot 5008
- xpander (less favorable- too fancy)
- alza (less favorable- too small)
- and out of nowhere volvo xc90

so to keep the discussion alive, please advice meĀ  notworthy.gif

Long distant + comfort = Serena

Since TS don't like Serena, then Estima
