Hi guys...

just to keep my introduction simple, need you advice what to choose

my needs
- 7 seater
- 2016 and above (loan reason)
- do a lot of long distance so need comfort car
- budget up to rm70k +-
- prefer suv over mpv
- prefer 2.4cc and below

my current choices are
- kia sorento 2.2
- peugeot 5008
- xpander (less favorable- too fancy)
- alza (less favorable- too small)
- and out of nowhere volvo xc90

so to keep the discussion alive, please advice me  notworthy.gif

The SUV fits within my budget, which is under 80K. It has a 5+2 seating configuration, with the last row suitable for kids or one adult sitting slightly sideways.

For long-distance travel with luggage, at least half of the third row needs to be folded to accommodate everything. The SUV is very comfortable, with minimal outside noise—something I highly value for long trips.

The media player works well when connected via Bluetooth (not an Android-based system). The air conditioning is sufficiently cool, even without a third-row blower, and so far, no one has complained about it.

The vehicle is slightly heavy, and with the CVT transmission, it requires some patience. However, this is fine for me since I primarily use it as a weekend and family car.

It doesn’t have many high-tech gadgets, but I prefer fewer electronics to avoid potential long-term issues. Safety-wise, it comes with seven airbags, which is important to me.

I hope this gives you a good idea of the car!

Honestly, if you want 7 seats AND luggage at the same time, then a full sized mpv (or SUV) is basically your only solution for a comfortable long distance ride.. budget for those is another issue.

Most of the smaller SUV and mpv won't be able to do both well. Hell, on most compact 7 seaters, the 3rd row seats suitable for cats, dogs and small children

If your budget only allows for a compact SUV/mpv, then perhaps install a roof box.

SUV can never match comfort to MPV.

U can go for Estima or Alphard for comfort. U wont regret it.
Else Kia Carnival.

5+2 the rear seat gonna kill the ass. Plus u wont havr anymore boot space coz that "2" already taken the boot space.

Even Serena is too small and it is 5+2

Huh? The 2.2 diesel engine already is a legend.
Very durable, great torque and good fuel economy for long distance travel. All Hyundai/Kia use similar diesel engine.
Carnival itself the interior & exterior design if you ask me it is more better looking compare to the Japs competitors.

I thought there were a lot of complaints on the 2.2 diesel engine? Go through the fb owners section. There are some that changed their engines under warranty and some after warranty.

The very famous 2.2 diesel engine that is notorious with engine problem, is from Mazda, a Japanese brand that many Malaysian love tongue.gif

Korean always have more reliable diesel engine than the Jap because there are more diesel users in their home country.

Most European diesel engine are quite reliable as they also been using diesel engine for ages, previous Peugeot 508 top range also got diesel engine and my mechanic still got 1 customer driving it until today.
