if you go with m2 2230 ssd and enclosure, yes it is significantly smaller. downside is the price premium on those form factor.

for the best bang for the buck, go for m2 2280 ssd and enclosure.

Tq tq, worth looking into it.

Looking for small backup drive that can plug into old windows laptop and samsung phone. External hard disk too big for me, need to find something smaller.

Look at nvme + m.2 enclosure, can buy rm290 for 1tb nvme and rm70 for the enclosure. Worth it? Anyone using this for backup both windows and android devices?

Crucial p3 1tb: https://s.lazada.com.my/s.MiLIS

Ugreen m.2 enclosure: https://s.lazada.com.my/s.MiLp2

Must see the price also, if nvme and sata same price, might as well go for nvme.

Yeah nowadays nvme ssd got cheap2 one like crucial p3, kingston nv2, silicon power, lexar etc. Even orico got sell many types of m.2 nvme. That's why few days ago I've been looking at these nvme + enclosure combo. Nvme also more widely used than sata m.2, so can use these to troubleshoot failing nvme also.

I feel the base storage now quite expensive. Doesn't matter HDD, SATA, NVME, all very pricey. If you want value from these storage, better go for high storage model.

Just example, like 8TB, here you're looking at RM1024/8 = RM128 per 1 TB.

4TB RM440/4 = RM110 per 1 TB

The heat not really big problem. Its like a warm phone when you do gaming. It hovers generally around 45-48c. A regular NVME SSD operating temp.

I own an Orico and a G-Link USB enclosure. Both works the same.
