Yes, if you are intercepting or attempt to intercept calls is illegal. I am talking about recording my own conversation and not intercepting other peoples conversation. Rather then linking to that website. Why not we go directly to the MCMC.
Below is The Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
MCMCSo which sub-section states that its illegal to record my own conversation?
I am not referring to intercept calls which was heated up during the 1MDB trial.
Section 234: Interception and Disclosure of Communications Prohibited
This section makes it illegal to intercept, listen to, or record someone else's communications without permission. It also prohibits sharing or using information obtained through such interception. The penalty for violating this section has been increased to a fine of up to RM500,000 or imprisonment for up to five years, or both13.
Section 231: Offence if Use Apparatus or Device Without Authority
This section makes it a crime for anyone to use any device or equipment without permission to get information about the contents, sender, or receiver of any communication. It's basically about preventing people from spying on others' messages or calls3.
Section 240: Distribution or Advertising of Interception Devices
This section prohibits the distribution or advertising of any equipment or device designed for intercepting communications. It aims to prevent the spread of tools that could be used for illegal surveillance or eavesdropping3.
These sections collectively work to protect people's privacy in their communications and prevent unauthorized access to or sharing of private messages and calls.
