just be safe, get an IDP from JPJ. Should cost you around RM150 for your peace of mind

basically what he meant is that diff country diff rules, so alot of malaysians would be confused

few examples i can think of from my travels overseas last time that is not taught in MY

1. the zipper merging rule
2. pedestrian ALWAYS FIRST
3. crossing a crossroad
4. rigid speed limit

I dunnolah, you gonna spend few k for plane tickets, hotels, makan and car rental. BUT, refuse to spend 100/150 ringgit for a piece of mind. Cannot brain the logic. Like someone said, its like buying insurance, and its actually cheaper than a proper travel insurance. Just get it lah.

Rather than worry about IDP better if u study different toll system and driving rules of each country if u plan to drive cross border.
Definitely!

Not sure about SG in recent years. Driven there once in 2018, wouldn't do it again.

Thailand's cops are notoriously corrupt, wouldn't dare either haha.

But yes, skimp on the 150 if you want to, in all likelihood you'll never need it. Think of it as an insurance.

thailand cops aren't corrupt, we just want to bring our bad parking culture there....and then surprised why thai cops so fast spring into action and clamp your car

u can't wrongly parked or double park in thailand, not even in their rural town...it will get clamped very fast unlike in malaysia
the reason why i say we can't even survive driving 5 mins overseas no matter where is because we're so used to driving in malaysia(the completely wrong way) and cannot accept that we can't be doing this and that anymore overseas

it is advisable to have IDP on hand, just pay RM150 and passport size photo will do, any UTC JPJ or JPJ branch is able to do it within 15mins.
