No. You cannot use. Need international permit. Same as we Europeans cannot use our license in Malaysia. We also need a permit.

better get international driving license at JPJ

and even if people say can, it's never about the license...it's about your skill
please don't bring your malaysian driving skill to EU, you won't survive 5 mins there

There's no such thing as international driving licence issued by jpj. It's called IDP, not IDL.

I've driven multiple times in the UK without an IDP (Only avis needs an idp for rental for non eu driving licenses).

I have taken that same car and driven it into france and ireland, all without an idp.

i have also driven in norway, sweden and denmark without an idp, with a car that was rented in the oslo airport.

likewise, my norweigian, greek , australian and british friends and family have rented cars and driven here without an idp or permit of any kind.

the only issue we had was my brother with an australian license tried to drive into thailand, and was told that only malaysian drivers are allowed to drive there.

his malaysian license was expired, so he had to switch drivers with my dad.

as long as its a holiday it should be fine, long term you will need to get their actual license

don't care what it's called, u can get that for RM100
but i believe a majority of malaysians can't even survive 5 mins driving overseas even with all the permits they bought

no one's gonna understand what's written on your license when you show them. means no license. capeesh? idp is a certified translation of our driving license in those country that recognize it.

there are 2 ways to see it

1. you really got proper driving skill
2. you just pretend overseas(most of them are this type)

Driving is about skill.

You're not dealing with authorities. No need to fuss about license/permit.

Rented a car in Holland to drive around. No IDP required, they accepted our license as they can understand what's written on it.

Just be extra careful when driving there as RHD and LHD can be confusing when u drive. Also respect the zebra crossing and road signs ๐Ÿ˜
