Depends on who is the deceased to your staff. If immediate, 5 days. Else, 1 to 2 days is more than enuff.

Put yourself in the exact same position as your staff, and think how many days of leave you would need. Then use that as your guide.

Have a chat with your staff on how long they need. In cases like this if she has to take care of the kids and some family members whilst her husband does the funeral preparation, it does take time.

Depends on their religion of their wake ritual, many up to 3 days, few goes up to 7 days.

Such leave is optional so depend the company, between 1 to 3 or 2 to 5 days (paid or unpaid)

Some company even big glc only 3 days for immediate family as in kids and husband, meaning if grandmother and mil totally tadak have to take own leave.

Anyways I'd say 2-3 if u feel like u really want give. But bear in mind everyone will expect the same later on, it becomes a precedent.

My company gives 10 days compassionate leave per annum, but restrict it in such a way:

Compassionate shouldn't exceed 3 consecutive working days per event.

Yes GLCs mostly restrict it to 3 days per event, as per my experience. However in my experience, most will cover MIL and FIL...however do not cover any other relation on the spouse side (e.g. sibling, grandparents etc).

Staff can still take EL if they want, but it will eat into their AL allocation.

Honestly 5 days of FREE compassionate leave is a bit too much on a per event basis.
