1) Tomtoc A13

Fitting is very snug and tight, inner compartment is very soft and plush. Comes with an outer zip compartment with enough space to store your accessories, e.g. cables, AirPods, small power banks, even charger (but it'll be bulging out)
Protection is good as well since 4 corners have inner bumper like material etched inside.

The bundle comes with an accessory pouch as well, total: RM134 in Shopee after vouchers

2) Uniq Oslo

Similar to Moft sleeve. Main difference is no expandable storage section, only 1 angle stand (Moft has 2), and Uniq top flap is bigger, giving more coverage compared to Moft which is more exposed.
Material wise is quite similar from memory, doesn't offer much protection since the sleeve material is only 2-3mm thick - slim profile.

During the laptop stand mode, it is very secure and stable. No wobble etc, so it works very well as advertised. The magnets are also strong.
However the fitting inside is quite big, there is quite a bit of space for the 14" MBP to move around inside.

The stone grey option in Shopee is selling at a really good price now: RM 89 after vouchers (and includes free engraving as well)

Ohh I wouldn't mind a thinner version as well, the retail one is quite thick!
Hahah maybe it'll speed up after a while? But using SSD backup to restore was much faster. Which did you end up using?

Time Machine route as u suggested.

Looks good, especially Moft looks pretty fucntional

I’m getting https://www.nedrelow.com/products/magic-sleeve

It acts like a desktop pad as well.. been using for iPad and old mbp13”.

14” mbp fitting not as good, so getting the proper clothes for it. Hehe

I got the Uniq instead, 2x cheaper than Moft and the opening is more protective as well

Ohh the magic sleeve function looks quite useful as well, but I don't like merino wool though. Hate the texture and it's also a lint magnet..

The common ones:
1) Sleeve/Case (even if it is in my backpack I prefer the MBP to be in a sleeve since it is so scratch prone sweat.gif )
2) AirPods (if you are using iPhone, the auto switching is a very nice feature. Not to mention Spatial Audio for movies are great)
3) 60/100w powerbank. So useful for charging outside without needing a power plug
4) USB-C wireless mouse (I prefer with USB-C receiver instead of bluetooth, can't stand the latency delay with bluetooth)
5) Portable SSD for backup
6) Charger (not necessary, but I prefer a smaller more compact charger compared to Apple's)
7) Applecare+

Thanks for the recommendation.

I read that hard case is not recommended as it may damaged the screen. Is that true? For a protective sleeve, which one that you recommend for 16-inch MBP?

If the hard case is poorly made with tight fitting or with clips that touches the screen then it is possible. I’ve used hard case on both of my MBP before for years and had no problems though.

There are many types of protective sleeve, depends on the type you like. If you like hard cases, Thule is quite popular. For soft padded cases, tomtoc is popular. Other options like Uniq, Mous etc.
If you don’t mind slimmer sleeves there are many more choices out there.

1) i use uniq case or spigen case, sleeve is too bulky for me, cause i carry a bag with me always, imaging putting macbook into a sleeve then put into the bag

2)65w third party GAN charger (smaller, lighter, and more ports)

3)keyboard protector (find it really useful preventing keycaps becoming shiny / prevent dust and accidental spill)

4)ugreen adapter (for hdmi,lan cable slot,usb 2.0)

Btw the latest MBPs are already available in authorised dealers, e.g. Machines. For those who don't want to wait for delivery though Apple.

Bro, does nano texture reduce the coloring and is there any concern on text originasim?

hardly to see any model with Nano texture in Machine store.

QUOTE(hown @ Dec 5 2024, 05:47 PM)
just received MBP 14, M4 1TB with nano texture screeen.
I must say it looks amazing without affecting much screen quality, in fact i feel eyes more comfortable looking at nano texture screen compared to MBA M1.

I didnt use migration assistant because everything i keep on icloud, so i just wait them to be resync back, and i only use a few apps where i can just redownload from apps store. Nothing much to transfer

Order date : 30/11/24

I have seen them side by side and to me, the sharpness in text is quite noticeable. Also at certain angles/lighting the colours are more washed out compared to the normal glossy screen. If you use outdoors a lot in the bright sun/lighting, then the nano texture might outweigh the cons more for you.

Thanks for feedback, your comments worry me a little bit:), I like the glossy screen, the sharpness and color are all nice, but my eye power is a bit high, and I'm working on software and needs to gaze at the screen for long hours, and I don't really want to continually adjusting the screen to avoid the reflection

Ahh then nano will help with eye fatigue for sure. I think it still looks great, but after seeing them side by side i cannot unsee the difference 😅
I read someone reviewed on Reddit that after using the nano for weeks, he couldn’t find much difference between using the Kensington ultrathin magnet screen protector on the glossy vs nano. Maybe you can try to see if that is true.
