Before semarphone age, when car becomes too expensive man use to splurge on camera like this and tokkok over cameras lens thickness
Nowadays man splurge on ipong and tokkok over specs, CPU, GPU, ram, screen, etc |

QUOTE(kidmad @ Oct 30 2024, 08:45 PM) If one inch sensors just get a smartphone.. sonys, Xiaomi 14 ultra, vivo x100 pro.. the 1 inch sensors cannot fight APSC sensors, IMHOIf want to hold an actual camera it better be worth it.. most likely sonys a7c for full frame or the Fuji xm5 which was recently released - for it's color science. Fujis jpeg is just a notch above others.. while sonys auto focus... Ni ma de simply shot also sharp. Nowdays really tak larat carrying extra gear my last camera was Fuji xs-10 ended up smartphones really did caught up as it's really versatile and the 1 inches smartphone camera are really taking damn good images especially in the dark. I can't say for Xiaomi but vivo just wows me. |

QUOTE(kidmad @ Nov 1 2024, 11:21 AM) With a proper glass yeah most likely.. but if u walk around with the kit lens with today's in camera processing it's going to be better. Very unlikely. Dynamic range (biggest selling pint of larger sensor) is very fundamental physics you can't conjure this up with postprocessing or the best lens.Generative AI could help, but at that point you might as well just start prompting instead of taking picture. Perhaps u should go get the 1 inchers using imx989 / LYT 900 compare them and tell me if their dynamic range are really significant.. also it's not about generative ai. It's about the processors in smartphone cameras having way better image processing capability.Generative AI could help, but at that point you might as well just start prompting instead of taking picture. Now I have the Fuji xs-10, Sony rx100 and vivo x100 pro, s23 ultra .. I've done more than enough comparison to put up my statement. This post has been edited by kidmad: Nov 1 2024, 01:04 PM |

U can try. lol the D5100 autofocus at this age is a joke. Try getting a sharp image first of yr using that. That's the camera I had to return cause the autofocus was no where close to EP5 9-10 years back. |

But at that time it was the lightest Nikon apsc body you can get while not being an e-waste at the same time. But then again I dont even do autofocus nowadays with dslr 🤷♂️. For regular daylight I just stick with my Pixel phone - not the prettiest but good enough for pics that I shoot for some wasap status and never look back. Most of time my use case with dslr now is to sit in almost complete darkness with tripod, shooting night scene during hike or camp so I can pull like 10 sec single shot exposure for cringe shots like this ![]() Not even the best AF could work well in this scenario. Might as well do with none. |

QUOTE(failed.hashcheck @ Oct 31 2024, 01:59 AM) Im looking for lighter camera for hiking and camping. panasonic s9 with the new 18-40mm lens? Lightest I have currently is D5100. A 13 yr old camera. The other one I have is D8100, but damn, that shit with /2.8 lens is heavier than my tent and cookset combined 😂 I guess its time to restart from scratch and go mirrorless - and might as well jump ship while Im at it, but if possible don't want to go down to M4/3 route. anyway, the lens is not available in malaysia yet |
