i think he means the SDHC card is not backward compatible with a non-HC card reader...

ZR1 is mighty tempting! Better lens and 2x faster than TZ7 drool.gif
Good thing I'm no more in the camera race. How many ringgit are they, ZR1 & Fuji F70EXR locally?
When I had to choose TZ7 vs Fuji 200EXR, HD video was the deal breaker for a travelling compact.
Like the man says there are no bad choice, it is up to wat's ur needs?

i weighted both ZR1 and F70EXR:

ZR1
Pro:
Lighter
More preset mode
Better IS
Orientation sensor!
HD Video
Wider lens

Cons:
The dynamic range is not as good as F70EXR
No manual control at all
Slightly more expensive than Fuji (RRP: RM1499)

Fuji:
Pro:
cheaper (one of the main factor!) (RRP:RM1099)
Better CCD (EXR, good dynamic range)
some special features (Pro Low Light, Pro Focus)

Cons:
No orientation sensor!
No HD video!
Heavier
IS is not as good as ZR1

Street price is now a very pocket friendly RM890 in Berjaya Times Squar4 / BB Plaza

Another pro to add: DR mode
But the con to that is that the DR mode, when on, renders this camera practically a 5MP camera (But a very good one)

The supplied battery on F70EXR seems to be have a low battery life. But that can be fixed by getting a third party battery.

The battery life on ZR1 lasts a lot longer but third party battery wont work on it. Not being able to use 3rd party battery = big sigh.

Wow...that's a tough question and basically what is your main concern? Your SD capacity? PQ?

For my experience when you set the camera's still picture recording to take 3968 x 2232, you don't get exactly 9MB, sometimes more and other times less.

i don't think it's tough question. someone who already shoot video on ZR1 can see how big the file size on computer. my concern is how big memory card i need to get as much high resolution video as possible. as a comparison, my current cam, fuji F30 can fit VGA/30fps video about 15 min per GB. unfortunately fuji's XD card only got 2GB capacity

Highest resolution video possible is 1280x720, 30fps. ZR1 uses SDHC Memory Card and you have a choice of the following capacity 16GB or 32GB Class 4 depending on your wallet.
What's the duration of your movie?

hmm i read that TZ7 has a 15 minutes time limit for the video recording due to EU restrictions (not to brand it as camcorder). Does this also apply to the TZ7 sold in Malaysia?

There is a limit...
but not 15mins...

according to my TZ7,

Motion Picture:-
1. QVGA - 1hr00m20s
2. VGA - 21m45s
3. WVGA - 20m55s
4. HD - 8m20s

AVCHD:-
1. L - 59m29s
2. H - 39m42s
3. SH - 30m21s

it doesn't mean that u left that much space for the video recording, it shows that each time u can record how long in each setting.
