why there is no specific thread for TZ7??
Maybe...
1. Cos it is consider as a normal PnS compact.
2. Moreover there are not much owners for this model deem to have a thread of its own.
Anyway you guys can always make this thread as TZ7 home plus family of Lumix laugh.gif

tRiXie - For food shots I would pick LX3 due to its fast, better lens and manual adjustment.

I don't know much about camera or manual settings therefore I choose this TZ7. Just use intelligent auto in all my shots. tongue.gif
So I don't quite mind its lack of manual functions.

For lowlight (like those moody cafe) food shot , TZ7 sure will fire flash.. and it looks washed.
So unless its a well lited area, TZ7 don't do so well on food shot.

I always force the flash to off.
Flash is not bright / powerful enough to lit up everything.

Those is with Normal Picture mode, auto iso (with iso400), shutter 1/15 - 1/25, force flash off.

The restaurant is dimmed orange lighting.

I havent try tz7 lower than that lighting. I normally use my lx3 instead.

But food shot kind of static picture i guess a steady hand is ok at least to me... (i'm a noob cameraman tongue.gif )

jays_on - For more info on his shots, you can click on the photos which will take you to flickr.com. There, bottom right column, your will find "Additional Information" >> Taken with a Panasonic DMC-TZ7.>> More properties <-click here.

n3wb13 - No offense but these are fun shots right. Not for commercial use, right?

tRiXie - my guess is LX3, in the hands of food shot expert, will bring out the mouth watering effect. laugh.gif

Very nice shots.
I just use IA mode. And I think usually so near the object it will switch to macro mode.
I'm so noob.

Yes i got the LX3 1st. But tempted for the long reach, so get the tz7 to accomodate that. My recent trip to redang i use more of my tz7 for the normal shots around the beach. But LX3 for the night shots and some shots that requires manual settings. I guess both have their strength. For the best of both, can consider FZ35/38, but might loose the pocketable. smile.gif

Yes its just some shots for personal album and blog. Sorry if you all are talking commercial shots previously... blush.gif
But i guess commercial use a dslr might be more suitable, no?

Thx. As said... its just some fun shot. I think if i hold the camera to the food longer... might affraid get kick out by the shop owner sweat.gif
ED: if u see i & Flower icon when using iA mode, then it is recognize as macro mode (i MACRO).
