Love my Mini 6, despite its flaws. In my eyes, the iPad Mini series is the only remaining iPad that doesn’t suffer from an identity crisis. The Air and Pro models are too busy pretending to be laptops these days with their keyboard cases (which cannot even fold back, so portability is totally killed), yet still fail miserably compared to MacBooks for most tasks.

Will probably pass on the 7 and cross my fingers hoping Apple releases a 120Hz Mini in a couple of years, along with a 120Hz MacBook Air. It’s not about price. All I want is a hand-holdable tablet and fanless laptop with high refresh rate screens.

Completely forgot about trade-in before reading your post. Turns out I can top-up around RM1400 (including new folio cover and Apple Care). I don’t use the Apple Pencil. Tempted to upgrade now. Will wait for some reviews. If confirmed that it has more RAM, then maybe I’ll bite.

Only thing I’m not sure is how the trade-in works for those outside KV who cannot visit the TRX Apple Store. I know you pay full price first and then have to deliver the old device to them before they credit you, but what I don’t know is whether you must mail in your old device before or after they deliver the new device to you.

Turns out Switch trade in offer is only RM40 less than Apple. I remember checking a few months ago and it was lower. Maybe they revised prices to better compete. On the other hand, Machines still kedekut, RM105 less than Apple's offer. Maybe I will try walk-in to Switch first. See whether they really will offer the listed amount or will taichi left right.

I still plan on visiting a Switch when the Mini 7 is out to see how much they will offer me for my Mini 6. If only around RM50-100 less than what Apple is offering me, then I will just go with Switch for the convenience of doing the upgrade on the spot.

Not many cases for iPad mini available on Shopee, especially if you’re looking for thin cases. The usual brands like ESR or Spigen have some nice cases on their own brand website, but not offered in their Shopee official stores. A lot of the models offered have holders for the Pencil which I don’t use.

Elago have a flip/folio stand that allows you to detach the front, so maybe you can look at that. Seems to be closest to what you’re looking for. Maybe I will also get that if I cannot find any alternatives, since I also plan to get an AirPods case from them. They have an official store on Shopee, free delivery, but from Korea so may take longer to arrive.

If you want the thinnest non-flip case possible, search for Casefinite on google. Their Frost Air cases are gorgeous, but damn expensive. Including delivery cost (from Japan), probably more expensive than official Apple folio already.

There used to another Japanese brand called Power Support (PowaSapo in JP market) that was sold here some years ago. Their Air Jacket iPhone case used to be very popular among forum members. Sadly, not listed anywhere on Shopee. They make the best (imho) matte screen films, but cannot find any local reseller that has it for the iPad mini 6 or 7. Machines used to sell this brand back in the day, so maybe I need to visit a local outlet to check.

Switch updated their trade in list on Nov 05 and is now giving lower trade-in offer, RM110 less than Apple/MY for my mini 6. Machines’ prices still not updated since Sept, but strangely they’re offering only RM20 less than Apple now, which was not the case when I checked a couple of weeks ago. Haiya, need to plan a survey trip soon. After reading fruitie sis tragic story, now scared to do Apple trade-in already. Better visit reseller and do the whole process on the spot.

It’s about the size, not price.

No restrictions on usage, but I think only college/uni students (or parents of those students) are eligible for edu pricing. See here under the “Eligibility” section; https://www.apple.com/my-edu/shop/open/salespolicies

Once shipped they will normally email you tracking/airwaybill number which will show “Origin Service Area” where it is picked up from. If you didn’t choose engraving, most likely will come from Apple’s SG storage/logistics hub via DHL.

Decided to order and trade-in directly with Apple. Can someone explain this to me, please? The part below is telling me to choose drop off or schedule courier pickup, but there are no selections for me to click/tap. The only clickable link (in blue) just leads to the usual instructions page for preparing device (backup, remove from FindMy, reset, blah blah) beforehand, but that’s all. Will the options only appear after my new device is delivered, or am I missing something obvious?

I think can. Last time when I had an iPad Pro cellular, if not mistaken could receive messages. Was your AppleID created in the old days when it wasn’t compulsory to include phone number, so everything verified via e-mail only?

Wah, iPadOS 18 now can set battery charge limit also? Noice!!

Even the Space Grey is light (mine arrived just now). Closer to silver actually. Apple really saving money producing this 7th gen mini. Screen and chassis same not enough for them. Paint pigment also stingy. But in the end mini lovers will still buy, because we don’t have a choice. This is the only tablet Apple makes that isn’t suffering from an identity crisis pretending to be a laptop. Apple still laughing while counting our money.

I forgot how thin the mini 6/7 is until I took out the folio case to prepare my mini 6 for courier pickup. Really damn thin. Now tempted to find new thin non-closing case for the 7 instead of a typical folio case. Anyone got any Shopee links for cases similar to the Casefinite Frost Air cases?

Other than your RHB, did the CS Manager mention names of the other affected banks? This time I decided to use my Maybank Visa debit card since Maybank was shown as one of Apple’s “partnering banks” in the checkout page (my credit cards are not from Maybank, unfortunately). Need to wait and see how. Mine still early days. Mini 7 arrived Thursday (14 Nov) and I scheduled courier pickup for coming Monday (18 Nov) for my mini 6 trade-in. Fingers crossed.

Mine is POS, according to the person I spoke to on the phone. I didn’t get any email* asking me to choose between dropoff or pick-up even 24hrs after receiving my order, so I called Apple yesterday afternoon and they scheduled it for me.

*actually the email did eventually arrive last night, but by that time already scheduled everything via phone. Clicked the link in email at it confirmed already scheduled, although didn’t show the date. I guess I will just have to trust Apple and wait for POS guy to call me Monday.

Nope. They said courier guy will bring a box for me to pack and hand back to him. Told me to take photos of my trade-in unit and the shipping label.

Very different here. When I lived overseas, if you selected trade-in with your order, the courier box and shipping label would arrive together with your order and you could pack it slowly and then schedule pick-up/dropoff.
