Hi Sifoo,

I am looking to buy four CCTV cameras for my double-storey landed house. The areas I plan to install them are:

- Car porch (entrance gate)
- Living room
- Kitchen
- Kids' area

I am considering the following two models:
1. TP-Link TAPO C200C: https://my.shp.ee/KxYq8s8
2. SriHome SP028: https://my.shp.ee/MrK727q

My budget is around the price range of these models.

Could you provide any reviews, opinions, or recommendations on which one might be a better choice?

Thank you!

Note: On Shopee, I saw that the SriHome brand is the No. 1 best-selling Wi-Fi camera.

I don't really trust things like these

but anyways, I trust the Tapo a bit more

but do also consider EZVIZ C6N

for car porch... if it's not protected from the rain, maybe consider outdoor models

am using tapo TC70, so far so good ...can pan & tilt. but areas like carporch area just find a good corner spot to get a wide angle and minimise dead spot. and also near to a plug point.

Just get a good and large sdcard and it can record up to almost 6 days non stop.

Just get the Tapo, the overall user-experience is probably the best out there.

I have tested many other brands like Xiaomi, Ezviz, Imou, Amazon, Google, D-Link. While they might be better than Tapo at certain things, Tapo is still the best in overall consideration.

Avoid those OEM brands. They are just unreliable.

Actually I want to recommend TS to consider getting wide angle model instead of those pan and tilt

I think wide angle is way more practical especially for indoor, you can see an entire space easily

I am currently using a few Tapo C100/TC60 and will be upgrading to Tapo C120 soon for better image quality

Not much difference for those IP cam. Around the same for image. Used hikvision, ezviz, imilab/xiaomi and tapo before. But avoid hikvision it was the worst experience.

I stop using these kind of IP cam, i get some ONVIF/RTSP network camera and link with my Synology.

i also recommend Tapo. my family called it Tapao laugh.gif

I personally use Tapo C210 & C320WS and I am super happy with the hardware itself & Tapo app

No regrets for getting the Tapo cameras

If 4 and up its much cheaper and more reliable to just use commercial one with dvr, like hikvision. Preferably the analog one. Deployment is not as simple, but once setup it's designed to run forever without regular interaction.

Those fancy wifi cam brands are like toy compared to the proper CCTV+dvr solutions.

If you have budget invest on proper DVR+camera setup more safer.
Wifi camera if you faced network down issue the recording would be stopped.

I'm using iMou good camera quality also good

I am more interested in the CCTV system that uses PoE cabling. easy to set up and maintain. I mean no need to pull the powerline to power up the units especially outdoors.

Tapo is generally cheap and decent for the price. For privacy, I would advise not to insert SD CARD to record for indoors unit (in case you love walking around naked). I had one Tapo T100 and T110 for indoors living room, kitchen area and parking compound. Then I added 1 C200 for back street and also one on 2nd floor balcony to pan around and lookout since my area surrounded by temple and church with lots of traffic at times. Working great so far.

Personally I do not like CCTV system for home because I think they work better for offices/factories whereby you set a TV for your staffs to monitor in/out movement and it also provided better clarity for live viewing, but once saved, the video is compressed so much that you could barely differentiate the human face from one another.

Tapo system is more convenient in case you love to move the camera around to monitor other things such as suddenly wanting to add a camera to monitor your pet or elderly at home. You can also buy a tapo plug to turn the camera on and off at certain time to provide privacy in case you need to set the camera at sensitive location such as bathroom or bedroom for the elderly. Not to mention Tapo also record sound which is useful and can be use to communicate directly via the camera itself.

I am using Tapo C200 (2 units). So far ok. Easy setup.
Primarily for indoor but installed at porch. If need outdoor, best is C500 series, I think can "see" further with clearer longer range view.

Used Tapo damn cheap at Carousell. Mostly came with SD card installed. Just buy and hard reset only.

I now have 2 outdoor cameras and 2 indoor cameras plus a couple of smart sockets. Now looking for used Tapo light bulbs.

Haved used tapo c200 and c500, the wifi is for the handphone to monitor live stream, if put sdcard inside Tapo, with and without wifi, the ip camera will record everything. WIFI connection just for user to monitor online live stream and also to view sdcard recorded video. so, no need the wifi to record the video into the sdcard ( unless subscribe to cloud storage, which is no good, better buy sdcard 128gb, can record non stop 24 hours for 7-8days,)

wifi is no needed if buy sdcard to record.
