@vampbreak,
I still don't see a need for the card but if U want it by all means go ahead and put your application in. @g00glesYYl, For Petronas, some forummers have reported U will need to make payment inside the store, and not at the pump. |

@Dozz,
Could it be that the Amex Gold is NEW and the Platinum is too used? I basically use my Amex wherever I can. If they don't accept Amex then I'll just use Citibank lor |

@buntutman,
Charge card as in, U pay at the end of the month the full figure U spent; no such thing as minimum payment. |

@buntutman,
The interest rates are v v v v v much higher and if U missed the payment Ur card will probably be 'deactivated'. |

@buntutman,
Go check out the Amex website and U'll know and obviously interest in this case will also be compounded. The late penalty charges on the Amex are also higher! |

@vin_ann,
Amex has one of the highest administrative fees. Also, don't forget when U use your Amex in foreign currency it is double conversion. It will first convert to USD and from USD to MY. So unless ur buying something in USD, it doesn't convert twice |

@Optiplex330,
If ur Visa/Mastercard is issued locally the conversion will be direct; as in from AUD to RM instead of AUD --> USD --> RM. @vin_ann, I'm not sure what Visa Verified or Mastercard Secure measures are but on the Amex Platinum cards, U can actually return the goods and ask for a refund up to RMX amount. I've never used that service before so can't give more information. |

@Optiplex330,
That's weird cause there's been no known cases of double conversion for Visa/MasterCard. Can someone please clarify? Then again, are we asking this question in the wrong thread? |

@winner,
I don't think the transaction of the conversion is recorded on the bill. Alas, I've only used my Amex to purchase stuff in USD hence am not too sure (things paid in USD don't haf double conversion mah!) |

@vampbreak,
U oredi haf the Centurion and that supercedes the Platinum so Y even bother with the Platinum? Also, we've discussed it at lengths here that the benefits aren't worth RM2k and most of us are just too cheapskate to even want to pay the RM2k! I know for a fact I wouldn't. @winner,
In that case, get 2 boxes of chocolates @vampbreak, To be 100% certain U will need to have first hand experience and not take it from us who doesn't have the card. Who knows? Perhaps we're just too cheapskates hence we merely find excuses to say it's no good? |

@vampbreak,
I don't think anyone mentioned extra charges; we just said things booked through Concierge Services may be more expensive but we're not too sure. Perhaps, let us know which hotel you've booked urself into and we'll do a comparison to costs - will also need to have check-in and check-out dates & room category booked into Btw U coming back from Sydney? When? |

@vin_ann,
I'm not too sure. Am not able to contact the hotel until vampbreak provides the information. You could however check with the Amex website to see what special deals are available in the different regions round the World. |

Eh.. did U book the air ticket via Amex or U just asked them to make the hotel reservations and the airport limo was complimentary? Or U can get that complimentary even without using Amex? Er.. Yes I want the iPhone 3GS - can ah?! --Added-- Eh btw... RM260++ is close to RM300. How did u get RM78 for the 3 nights?! This post has been edited by tinkerbel: Jul 13 2009, 04:08 PM |
