more traction is always safer in high speed dry/wet cornering...
if cannot afford the extra fc... look for other cars...

QUOTE(touristking @ Aug 24 2024, 10:09 AM) Always been intrigued by this claim. Let's say we don't drive like a Formula 1 driver and just keeping it to below 130 kph on rainy day. Can feel any difference? Like to hear from someone who have ACTUALLY tried both the 2WD and AWD of same model car. Not hearsay or arm chair talking. one of my cars has the xdrive system... driven it 9 yrs now, 95% of the time i select rwd only, 5% have it on awdin awd mode, turning/handling is more precise, pickup/stopping have less pitching... never driven until lose control to say awd is better than rwd/2wd... ive also driven fwd on snow but you just drive differently here... awd system makes for a marginally safer and better handling car... most of the time you dont need it, but maybe once in a lifetime someone may wish they have it... |

QUOTE(touristking @ Aug 25 2024, 04:35 PM) Thanks. if car is power limited, 2wd will be faster than awd... if car is traction limited, awd will be faster than 2wd...10 - 15% increase fuel consumption is significant. As for starting pickup from standstill and is surprised you say the AWD is faster than the 2WD. I have very briefly tried the G5 AWD and can't stand the slown-ness. May be there is something wrong with that car. if ground is slippery bc wet or sandy... its also fighting traction control... |
