I still have my old Sorento around for emergencies like flooded roads or carry heavy items. Despite a higher cost of diesel, she's still a keeper.
Yes, tires all botak at the same time and slow acceleration due to weight but stable at higher speeds and bad roads. Before the old shocks gave way, I drove over 100kph over a speed bump and potholes and the car landed on all 4 tires like a cat. No understeer or oversteer. Now with a newer shocks, it felt like a brand new car except for the engine noise. Due to age, the dashboard started cracking and I recently found a good conditioned one at the junkyard for next to nothing plus other parts. I'm now looking for someone to reinforce the dashboard internals with fiberglass before installing it. At the same time, will be tossing away the stock HU and speakers. Will add a better HU, speakers and subwoofer. All DIY from scratch with parts bought from Shopee. |

QUOTE(touristking @ Aug 27 2024, 06:11 PM) 4WD can't be more stable than a sdean or even a SUV at high speed and cornering. Because of higher height. At 130 kph, mine is probably at it's limit and definitely more stressful to drive than the my other SUV The tip is to make the rear axle heavier. On my previous Triton, I loaded 300kg of sandbags in the cargo bed for stability. |
