QUOTE(MyProLife @ Aug 20 2024, 12:40 PM) 5g supported device means those devices must contain b28 LTE band alongside n78 AS WELL AS SIRIM certified Yes someone else mentioned the LTE anchor band. So that means in Thailand, the LTE anchor band is not required? As I remember Xperia 1/5 ii-iii was never officially certified by SIRIM for 5g in Malaysia I'm still not buying into the 5G hype. I can wait. |

QUOTE(MyProLife @ Aug 20 2024, 01:27 PM) Yes. Thailand already adopted SA (standalone) network while we still stuck with NSA (non-standalone) due to DiuNiaBu This seems to explain the complains in this thread. If you can't get good 4G signal, you can't get 5G. Seems like no point I upgrade my phone. It won't fix the dead spots problem. Any spot that cannot get 4G won't get 5G either. |

QUOTE(JohnL77 @ Aug 20 2024, 01:35 PM) This seems to explain the complains in this thread. If you can't get good 4G signal, you can't get 5G. This is not entirely correct tho. Currently 4g implemented by telcos still separate from DiuNiaBu NSA implementation because you just need 700mhz 4g anchor band as well as n78 for 5g. While 4g bands are currently separated from 5g because telcos are not allowed DSS to share 4g and 5g in existing licensed spectrum Seems like no point I upgrade my phone. It won't fix the dead spots problem. Any spot that cannot get 4G won't get 5G either. Nonetheless to be able to make and receive calls, 4g coverage is still the must |

QUOTE(JohnL77 @ Aug 20 2024, 01:48 PM) Existing 4g spectrum (B1, B3, B8, B7, B38, B40 etc) are which currently independent awarded to celcom/Digi maxis umobile yes unifi, these are strictly 4g band for now in Malaysia (some may have B8 shared with GSM)But with DSS means that such spectrum can share with their respective 5g bands (substitute b with n in prefix eg N1, N3, N7, N38, N40) so that a 5g phone can connect with 5g mode of existing 4g bands to save on antenna costs and improve signal reception If Malaysia also allow such implement I believe more 5g phones can be supported without relying on b28 which may be missing in some earlier China imported model like X3 gt, some Xiaomi china models pre-2024 etc |

QUOTE(erry- @ Aug 20 2024, 11:06 PM) Well haha I was researching and see someone said 5g not activated in software due to SIRIM not certified for 5g. Or maybe just merely an excuse. I think is due to software locked lo.Maybe need research into enabling 5g/volte by modification of software mbn/carrier policy |
