Recently Maxis free upgrade my plan to 5G but I didn't receive any 5G signal at all. Tech support said my Poco X3 GT not supported by DNB huhu. Sad thing is last year in Thailand I could use 5G over there. Cukur I didn't pay to upgrade my plan to 5G.

few months back I can enjoyed 5G indoors around 300Mbps.

now, only 4G.

complaints to telco, they gives their usual scripted response.
*
I don't care about the speed. 4G fast enough for me. But I was hoping to get better connectivity. Some places really bad signal.

Oh well...

the only time 5g is useful is when u need to download tinder when ur gf goes to the toilet and do ur daily swipe and uninstall the app before she comes back from the loo

Noob. Get a 2nd phone la.

it lacks the support of n28 anchor band.
hopefully when 2nd 5G network rollout, telco will roll out real SA 5G, which dint require anchor band.
*
Wow so maybe in the future my phone can use 5G in Malaysia? Nice.

TS missed yest. thread ifag user killed his iphone 15 battery very fast because used exclusivey 5g no wifi

God/the universe/destiny decided dis is da wae. DNB no support mai pong and I discovered that 5G sucks in Malaysia. Cukur.

QUOTE(cms @ Aug 19 2024, 10:03 PM)
5g sucks, but with a better phone it sucks less
*
I rather wait until the network becomes better. Being an early adopter sucks. I didn't buy this phone for 5G, I bought it for the flagship processor. Maybe in the future when I finally upgrade, the 5G modems consume less energy.

5G is a waste of battery.. only if you are in a packed area like on the MRT then its worth it... and only if you really need the speed eg: watching YT or Downloading then only your phone will switch to 5G and also Malaysia coverage like shit (EVEN IN BUKIT BINTANG AND DAMANSARA). Speed also like shit.. Only occasionally can get 200Mbps.. other time same speed as LTE.

Just save your battery and use LTE.. Sorry to those if got scammed by Maxis biggrin.gif

Phone: S24 Ultra
Provider: Maxis
Area: KL/ KV

For me 4G is fast enough to stream YouTube in 1080p.

Thai LTE si damned fast and no latency. Unlike Malaysian 4g 2 bar strength like no signal like that.

Sometimes 4G in Malaysia 4 bars or full bars also cannot connect.

why change battery bro...u want the 5g not the extended battery life bro...

5g is fast bro... ive seen people test get like 1.2gb per second bro.
*
What I wanna do with 1.2gb per second? My priority is better coverage, too many places cannot get signal, sometimes 4 bars or full bars oso cannot connect. But I see many people in this thread say 5G signal is also bad.

You need to pay for 5G? I thought Fahmi already said telco cannot charge more for 5G. Any existing plan they just include 5G

5g supported device means those devices must contain b28 LTE band alongside n78 AS WELL AS SIRIM certified

As I remember Xperia 1/5 ii-iii was never officially certified by SIRIM for 5g in Malaysia
*
Yes someone else mentioned the LTE anchor band. So that means in Thailand, the LTE anchor band is not required?

I'm still not buying into the 5G hype. I can wait.

Yes. Thailand already adopted SA (standalone) network while we still stuck with NSA (non-standalone) due to DiuNiaBu
*
This seems to explain the complains in this thread. If you can't get good 4G signal, you can't get 5G.

Seems like no point I upgrade my phone. It won't fix the dead spots problem. Any spot that cannot get 4G won't get 5G either.

While 4g bands are currently separated from 5g because telcos are not allowed DSS to share 4g and 5g in existing licensed spectrum

Existing 4g spectrum (B1, B3, B8, B7, B38, B40 etc) are which currently independent awarded to celcom/Digi maxis umobile yes unifi, these are strictly 4g band for now in Malaysia (some may have B8 shared with GSM)
But with DSS means that such spectrum can share with their respective 5g bands (substitute b with n in prefix eg N1, N3, N7, N38, N40) so that a 5g phone can connect with 5g mode of existing 4g bands to save on antenna costs and improve signal reception

If Malaysia also allow such implement I believe more 5g phones can be supported without relying on b28 which may be missing in some earlier China imported model like X3 gt, some Xiaomi china models pre-2024 etc
