Hi. My AirAsia flights from KL > BKK and BKK > KL have been canceled. My KL > BKK Flight is moved by an hour which is fine.

but my return flight from BKK to KL has been moved to the next day (overnight)

anyone here has experience with what I should do? Any avenue to claim for compensation on the additional night's stay I have to spend on?

Already checked with my credit card company, the travel insurance tied to the cc does not cover cancellations, only delay.

airasia have a few flights between kl bangkok KL (operated by FD and AK)

usually when flights cancel - airlines will give you a later flight - so that you will not missed it (if they give you earlier flight) .. (tickets burned if missed flight)

contact d airline - ask them for earlier in the day flight if have - they should give you that without penalty / fare differences

as for claims etc - usually airlines and insurance will not cover if the changes are made X-days ahead - need to check wording on that

once Bo is launched, give you option to choose, click on "Others"
then - Hotel/SNAP
then - Booking cancellation ... once you click this, it will tell you all the faiwa (canto) this cannot that cannot ... then it will say "if you flight is cancelled, lets see how our allstar cna help you"
lastly - "Talk to allstar" ... that is the live person chat


recommended that you do this during work time ... because night time less staff longer wait time
must stay infront of pc - if they come online you no respond after 2 -3 minutes, they will disconnect

Try using their chat bot and ask for compensation then they will ask for booking id if eligible then they give u some option etc

if it's cancelled like that, AA should provide passengers with an overnight stay at their cost their arrangement

Were you informed days ahead of the flight or within 24hrs of the flight? Sounds more like this is done for commercial reasons than operarional reasons.

Just before boarding. Need repair for a few hours, but deferred again. Then AirAsia X flew in another A330 to send us back to Malaysia.
AirAsia X provided overnight accomodation at a nearby hotel, and food vouchers. Also got RM200 flight voucher to be used within 24 months.

Can claim nothing from credit card insurance (must have receipts for expenses). Luckily I bought a travel insurance from Tune, cost RM70 only for a family.

Recently I made a query and a 5 Stars airline says, if the incoming flight is delayed and connecting flight delayed, they will not give you accommodation if the replacement flight is next day. Probably because the connecting flight is their code share partner.

I believe it's more like AA has recently come out with the loss-proof tactic of consolidating 2 half-full flights into 1 full flight, ie by cancelling 1 flight, in order to pad their profits.

I believe AA has also cancelled cheaply-bought tickets a week or two before departure of the full flight, eg bought cheaply because bought 6 months in advance via airlines' Dynamic Pricing sales strategy, for the same profit purpose and with the same "Operational Reason" = AA could sell the cancelled tickets at a higher price. From AirAsia, unlikely. AirAsia may have given you a credit, I got RM200 from AirAsia X, which shall be used on D7 flights within 2 years.

You may claim from your credit card, which you used to pay for the flight tickets.

we did not get anything from airasia...just sms from them on cancellation few hours before the flight...

i managed to get claim from tune protect insurance...rm200 for time guarantee and another rm600 for delay.

Credit card from chubb insurance part still no news after i had submitted the hotel room receipts few weeks back.
